                                                                One Week Short Term Course

                                                                                        on

                                                        ‘Employability Skills for Industry 4.0’

The Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib arranged a Short term Course on “Employability Skills for Industry 4.0” scheduled from 16 – 20 October, 2023 organized By Entrepreneurship Development And Industrial Coordination (EDIC) Department, NITTTR, Chandigarh. The course is conducted in online mode as Remote Center of NITTTR, Chandigarh. Dr. Niraj Bala, Course Coordinator cum Professor, EDIC Dept., NITTTR, Chandigarh inaugurated the course and engaged the first session by giving a brief introduction regarding the title ‘Industry 4.0’ also known as the Fourth Industrial Revolution that is transforming the way businesses operate, with technology at its core. This revolution has profound implications for the skills and competencies required by the workforce. To thrive in Industry 4.0, we need a diverse set of employability skills that go beyond technical knowledge. She explored the key employability skills essential for success in Industry 4.0 and how organizations and educational institutions can foster their development.

Almost 13 faculty members from various departments of our institute attended the course at the remote center. Total 4 remote centers and more than 100 participants from various prestigious institutions of India attended the course in online mode. All the Experts/speakers of the course were also from renowned institutes of India and shared their knowledge with the participants in an effective manner. The course was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Kiranpreet Kaur, HOD ECE Department, encouraging and motivating the faculty members for learning new Employability skills regarding Industry 4.0 that is characterized by the integration of digital technologies.     


                                                TWO DAY WORKSHOP ON EXCEL ESSENTIALS

The IE(I) student chapter (ECE department) of BBSBEC Fatehgarh Sahib in association with Institution’s Innovation Council organized two-day workshop on “Excel Essentials ” on 5-6 th Oct., 2023. The workshop focused on Navigation, Formatting and basic formulas and functions of Microsoft Excel. Prof. Karamjeet Singh, Assistant Professor in ECE Department at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib was the eminent speaker. The speaker introduced the concepts of Microsoft Excel. He discussed the applications of this tool in the technical field & business world for analyzing data, creating charts, and presenting information the way decision makers want to see it. He also shared how Excel allow users to do complex calculations, organize data, and create reports using simple formulas and functions. Two of the most commonly used functions in Excel Vlookup and Hlookup were also discussed. There were around 50 participants from various departments. The Principal Dr.Lakhvir Singh congratulated all the participants. Dr.Kiranpreet Kaur (Head, ECE Department) appreciated the efforts of Prof. Karamjeet Singh.

                             


                                                             Industrial Trip to BSNL, Patiala

An industrial visit was organised to BSNL Patiala for ECE students of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College on 6th September,2023. Total of 46 students were accompanied by faculty and staff members of BBSBEC. The purpose of the visit was to provide them with an opportunity to learn about the functioning and processes involved in the telecommunication industry. On the day of the visit, the students and faculty were welcomed by the staff of BSNL Patiala and they gave an overview of the various services offered by BSNL and its contribution to the telecommunication sector. The students were taken on a tour of the premises. They were shown the different departments and sections of BSNL Patiala, including the switch room, broadband section and transmission section. The BSNL officials explained the operations carried out in each department and answered the queries of the students. During the visit, the students also had the opportunity to interact with some of the employees of BSNL Patiala. They were encouraged to ask questions and get insights into the challenges and opportunities of working in the telecommunication industry. The employees shared their experiences and offered guidance to the students, which was highly appreciated by the group. Overall, the visit to BSNL Patiala was a great learning experience for the students. It provided them with practical exposure to the telecommunication industry, allowing them to gain valuable insights and knowledge. Moreover, the visitencouraged the students to consider career opportunities in the telecommunication sector and motivated them to pursue further studies in the field.  



                           Seminar conducted on 18 August’2023

The Electronics & Communication Engineering Department of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib jointly with T&P cell, BBSBEC Innovation Council and
Internal Quality Assurance Cell conducted an expert talk on “Problem Solving and Idea Generation”. The talk was held on August 18, 2023, by Dr. Avtar Singh, Chief Researcher, Adama Science and Technology University, Ethiopia. The program was conducted to encourage and motivate the faculty and students for learning new skills. The speaker discussed the concept of Idea generation and analyzing as well as development stages of ideas to be converted into practical designs. The expert talk proceeded with highlighting the relationship between problem solving and idea generation along with innovation and successful entrepreneurship. The students might be able to develop problem solving skills, entrepreneurial skills, out of the box thinking along with importance of innovation and Idea generation. By becoming more disciplined and coming out of their comfort zones students will learn to share and propagate their ideas with their intelligence and capabilities.


Celebration of  “World Telecommunication & Information Society Day”

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College Fatehgarh Sahib celebrated “World Telecommunication & Information Society Day” jointly with IEI, Punjab and Chandigarh State Center on 17th May,2023. Institute of Engineers Chandigarh hosted the event in the premises of Engineers Bhawan, Madhya Marg, sector 19-A, Chandigarh. Around 50 students  and 07 faculty members of Baba attended the event. Dr. Labh Singh, Chairman IEI welcomed the gathering. The theme of the event was empowering least developed countries through information and communication technology. The students were enlightened with valuable and knowledgeable thoughts of Mr. Sandeep Diwan, Former Chief General Manager, BSNL Chandigarh, Dr. Tulika Mehta, Director Kaizen Systems, Chandigarh and Er. Tanveer Singh. Project Manager IIT Bombay. Er. Swinder Singh, Honorary Secretary (IEI) delivered the vote of thanks and appreciated the participants. Students feel immersely benefited by gaining wealth of knowledge and expertise from field experts present there.


Two Days All India Seminar on

“Emerging Trends in Engineering Design & Technology”

Electronics & Communication Engineering department of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib has organized All India Seminar on “Emerging Trends in Engineering Design and Technology” on May 2-3, 2023 in association / collaboration with Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre under the Aegis of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Division, IEI. The main objective of this seminar was to make the people aware of the current technological advances in Engineering design and technology. This is an initiative to engage the researchers in wider discussions, share ideas with academics and researchers from other institutes, learn from their experiences, and develop strategies as per future trends.

The Institution of Engineers (India) or IEI is the largest multidisciplinary professional body that encompasses various engineering disciplines and gives engineers a global platform to share professional interest, IEI functions among professional engineers, academicians and research workers.

Dr. Manjeet Singh Patterh, Professor ECE, Dean Research and Dean Faculty of Engg. & Tech.at Punjabi university Patiala,  was The “Chief Guest” of the Seminar.Dr. patterh Enlighted the audience and participants  about the requirements and benefits of emerging technologies and its applications.

Jagdeep Singh Cheema, Trust Member, BBSB Education Trust, Fatehgarh Sahib was the  “Guest of Honour”.He congratulated the ECE department and our prestigious institute to organize the seminar and thanked the members of Institute of engineers India for granting BBSBEC for the seminar. He also wished the seminar a great success.

 


Expert Lecture on “How to Manage Your Mental Stress”

All students and faculty of   Electronics & Communication Engineering department attended the lecture with full enthusiasm.  Dr. R S Uppal was the Eminent Speaker for the day. Stress Management  is an eye catching topic to be discussed nowadays.The speaker emphasis how to cope with stress in day to day life. He also talked about various strategies that can be used to reduce the mental stress. Students gained tips to manage stress and their emotions to improve their mental well being and concentration at work.


Industrial cum Educational Visit to Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Power Plant, Rupnagar

Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering along with Electrical Engineering  organized the Industrial cum Educational  Visit to Guru Gobind Singh Super Thermal Power Plant, Rupnagar on 06/03/2023.  Around 45 students of   Electronics & Communication Engineering and Electrical Engineering visited the Thermal Power Plant. Students learnt about the overall set-up and working of the plant.They gain hands-on experience about various processes and operations of power generation/transmission.


MoU with Advance Tech India PVT. LTD. Chandigarh

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib signed a MoU with Advance Tech India PVT. LTD., Chandigarh. Officials from  ATECH interacted with final year students prior to the interview process and highlighted the scope of MoU i.e. assistance for industrial visits, Expert Lectures and placement after training. Final year students of ECE and Mechanical Engineering branch appeared in interview. Out of which four students got selected.                                                                                                                                                                              

Manpreet Kaur(B.Tech ECE) and Raman Kumar (B.Tech ME) are selected with stipend of Rs 8000 for 6 month internship period and offered a package of 2.6-3 lakh per annum after training. Gursharan Singh (B.Tech ECE) and Ravi (B.Tech ME) are selected with stipend of Rs 8000 from 3rd month of  internship period and offered a package of 2.6-3 lakh per annum after training.Principal Dr. Lakhvir Singh, Dr. B.S Bhullar HoD(ME) and Dr. Kiranpreet Kaur HoD(ECE) congratulated the students for their achievements.

Our ECE student Yadwinder Singh (under the guidance of Prof. Kamaldeep Kaur), was Awarded 3rd Prize for Best paper in Technical Session at “International Conference in Electronics and Communicagtion, Renewable Energy and IoTs: Vision 2040” held at The Institution of Engineers (India), Punjab and Chandigarh State Center during 7-8-Sept, 2019

Dr. RS Uppal has chaired the session during an international conference on sustainability  (ICKSSD-2019) at Guru Gobind Singh Inderprastha University, new Delhi on 25-26 Sept, 2019

Prof Daljeet Singh, AP, Deptt of ECE presented his research work in two international conference at Rome( Italy) and Sydney, Australia).

Learning Together – A workshop on MATLAB

Prof. Navpreet Kaur, Prof.Supreet Singh and Prof.Karamjeet Singh gave handsome experience on “MATLAB” to 3rd year students on 18-08-2017. Three different session were conducted for same.


Engineer’s Day Celebration

1. Our department students participated in IE(I) Chandigarh event on 15th Sept. as a part of Engineers day celebrations. Prof Kiranpreet Kaur & Prof Amrit Kaur accompanied & motivated students for  this state level technical Event.

2. Our students demonstrated 12 projects in the college Engineers day celebration. Prof Simranpreet Kaur & Prof Raju Sharma planned this student event in professional manner.
