Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib celebrated “International Women’s day 2018” on 8th March in association with IEI India (Punjab and Chandigarh Chapter). The programme commenced with the ShabadGayan by the students. The chief guest of the day was Dr. Uma Batra, Deputy Director, PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh. She urged the women to improve their self-confidence. She praised those women who stood for the welfare of the voiceless and the defenseless women. The Chief Guest stated that even men cannot become great without the support of women in any role like mother, teacher, sister, wife or daughter. For a woman self-dignity is more important and every woman should concentrate on learning and during the period of learning, they should not get tempted to be carried away by fleeting emotions.Er. Gurkamal Kaur, Software Consultant, Canada emphasized that a cheerful disposition and a brave heart are the assets of a woman.Mrs. KawalLamba, the first lady of college in her speech stressed on women empowerment and gender equality. On this occasion, Dr. N.S.Bawa, Vice President of Indian Doctors for peace and development of India,Dr.Tara Singh Kamal, Council member, (IEI) India, Er. Sukhvir Singh Mundi, Honorary Secretary IEI Punjab and Chandigarh Center, Maj. Gen.(Dr)G.S.Lamba, principal BBSBEC,Dr. Niraj Bala, Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering Department, BBSBEC were also present.
