1. ICT Based Short Term Course on “PHP & MySQL”

The Computer Science & Engineering Department organized an ICT Based Course on “PHP& MySQL” from 23^rd Jan, 2017 to 27^th Jan, 2017 under Oplan No. ICT41. This course provided the knowledge necessary to design and develop dynamic, database-driven web pages using PHP that powers many websites.

2. ICT Based Short Term Course on “Cyber Crime and Forensic Tools”

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, BBSBEC, Fatehgarh Sahib organized an ICT Based Short Term Course on “Cyber Crime and Forensic Tools” in association with NITTTR, Chandigarh from Feb 6, 2017 to Feb 10, 2017. The STC covered many of the aspects of cybercrime including basic forensic analysis of computers involved in investigations, hacker behavior, basic evidence recovery, cybercrime response and e-commerce crimes. Around 30 faculty members from the department attended the course.

3. All India Seminar on “Recent Innovations in Wireless Communications & Networking”

A two day All India Seminar on “Recent Innovations in Wireless Communications & Networking” was organized by Department of Computer Science and Engineering , Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib in collaboration with The Institute of Engineers(India), Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre. Er. Parminder Singh  Bhogal FIE, Chairman, Punjab & Chandigarh State Centre of the Institution of Engineers (India)  welcomed the members and distinguished Guests. Prof. (Dr.) Amod Kumar, Principal Scientist, CSIR, Chandigarh,Chief Guest of the Inaugural Session released the proceedings and addressed the gathering with his motivational views about the theme. Prof.(Dr.) Shakti Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Baddi University and Major General (Dr.) G S Lamba were the  “Guest of Honour”. Prof.(Dr.) Shakti Kumar discussed the emerging trends in communication Engg.

News Letter of CSE Department (May 2015 to April 2016)

1: Department successfully conducted MOCK AMCAT test on 20^th-21^th May, 2015. The test assessed  the aptitude  of students and  made the students aware of their weaknesses  and  prepared them for the placement drives.

2: Dr Baljit Singh Khera (HOD,CSE) presented a paper entitled “Image Segmentation using Teaching-Learning-based Optimization Algorithm and Fuzzy Entropy”  in The 15th International Conference on Computational Science and its applications (ICCSA 2015)held at Banff, Calgary, Canada on 22-25^th June, 2015.

3: Department has initiated the process of incorporating ERP system at college level. For the smooth running of the ERP, a workshop was conducted on 4^th July, 2015 to handle queries of ERP teams from different departments of the college.

4: Department organized a   two day workshop (10-11^th Sept, 2015) on Ethical Hacking . 432 students   from various departments registered for the workshop. Two students of first year CSE were selected for two months free training  at IIT Bombay worth  Rs 75000/-.

5: MATLAB workshop was held on 18-19^th Sept 2015. Nearly 25 students from different colleges had a brain storming session with Er. Deepak kumar form EESPL, Mohali. Er. Deepak discussed basics of MATLAB, Case Studies on Signal Processing , DIP, ASN, MANETs etc

6: A workshop on Cloud Computing was held on 18-19^th Sept ,2015. Er Mandeep Singh form Technospecs, Mohali familiarized students about its basics and related case studies. Nearly 20 students of different colleges gained  know how about Cloud Computing in the workshop

7: Department of CSE organised a Workshop cum National level championship on Big Data with Hadoop on 18-19^th September 2015. The workshop brought together industry experts and the academic community towards the research and development of big data applications. A total of 23 students from various colleges and universities across the India participated in the workshop. Students were also given free toolkit and participation certificates for the workshop. Four student’s from the workshop were selected for the participation in annual IIT Rorkee techfest.

8: Gurnishan  Singh of  7^th CSE  stood third in Inter  College Chess  Tournament (MRSSTU) on 5-7^th Oct 2015. Five teams of girls and nine teams of boys from different colleges participated in the event.

9: Dr Rajesh Kumar, Professor in CSE Department ,Thapar University delivered an Expert Talk on “Flying Adhoc Networks” on  17^th Oct 2015. Staff and students of the department gained valuable knowlede from the talk.

10: Er Gurmeet Sharma from EESPL, Mohali  engaged a hands on workshop on MATLAB for  graduates and post graduates of the Department on 17^th Oct 2015.

11: The  Department Computer Science and Engineering of BBSBEC, Fatehgarh Sahib organized  an Expert Talk  on” Cyber Security “in loving memory of Late Dr. Gurpal Singh on 29^th October 2015. Prof (Dr.) Maitryee Dutta  from NITTTR Chandigarh  updated staff and students of department with latest developments in the research area of  cyber security and tools used for it.
