Q-4. What is a criterion for taking admission at BBSBEC?

In B.Tech
  • Admission based on JEE 2016 merit for 85 % ,Punjab state quota and 15 % other state Quota
  • 2/3 seats are filled through central counseling by the university,1/3 by the management on merit.
  • Apart from other state government reservations the college has reservation for rural and sikh minority candidates
  • The details of statutory reservation s are given in MRRSTU information brochure
  • The candidate need to stake claim of the reservation while registering for admission at the university portal.
  • If no registration is claimed the candidate is treated as general category candidate.

Q-5. What is the admission policy for rural reserved candidate?

Candidate may avail the benefit of rural reservation if he or she satisfies the following conditions

  • His/Her parents are permanently residing in the rural area.
  • He/She has studied for a minimum period of 5 year from may recognized/affiliated school located in rural area.
  • He/She has passed 5th /8th/10th OR 10+2 from a school /college located in rural area.

Q-6. What do you mean by management quota?

The management quota seats are meant for candidates who are talented but fail to perform well in the final exams. In Management quota 33% seats are reserved for these gullible students. Moreover out of management quota out of 5 % of the total sectioned seats shall be filled from amongst Non-residing Indians (NRI)/Persons of Indian origin (PIO)/foreign national students and other related categories, in accordance with the procedure stipulated in the PTU information broacher.

The management shall fill these seats purely on merit in accordance with the following order of preference

1. Merit in JEE 2016/state govt./university notification/

2. Marks secured in qualifying examination i.e non medical 10+2. An advertisement will be published in leading newspapers (National and Regional) Regarding the schedule of counseling.

Q-7. What is the purpose of SRE?

In order to spread the fragrance of sikh religion, SGPC has reserved 50% seats for sikh students in their institutes through SRE EXAM

Q-8. What are the benefits of SRE?

The Sikh Religion Examination (SRE) is conducted every year by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Sri Amritsar to fill the 50% seats reserved for the candidates of the Sikh minority community in the following SGPC run institutes:

For admission to these colleges under the Sikh minority quota, the candidates must qualify the Sikh Religion Examination (SRE-2016). A candidate shall be eligible for admission by securing minimum 36% marks in this examination. Admission will, however, be made on the basis of the JEE-2016/ JET-2016 merit.

  1. No management fee shall be charged from students for admission in Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College from students who come through SRE.
  2. Scholarships to first Six Toppers of SRE-2016 Examination if admission is taken in Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College.

Q-9. When will be the SRE test held?

The paper will be conducted on 14 of May 2016.

For J&K the SRE test will be conducted on 22nd May 2016.

Q-10. What are the registration charges for SRE?

Registration fee of SRE Examination is Rs.300 and the books will be provided to the students for Rs.100.

Q-11. Can a student get SRE books by post?

Yes, the students can get the books through post by depositing the amount of Rs. 200 along with the registration fees.

Q-16. What is the admission policy for M.Tech Program?

All those candidates who have passed B.Tech with at least 50 % (45% in case of candidate belonging to Reserved category) in aggregate shall be eligible. The preference shall be given to GATE qualified candidates. For admission in M.Tech (CSE and E-Security) the entrance test will be conducted and admission done on merit basis.

Q-17. What is the admission policy for M.B.A Program?

All those candidates who have completed their graduation in any Stream (BA, BBA, BCA B.Com, B.Sc, B.Tech, B.Pharmacy etc) shall be eligible for admission.

Q-18. Can a compartment student get admission?

As per college norms student with compartment in one subject can get admission conditionally that the candidate has the capability of clearing the examination before the last date of eligibility checking given by the university in case of late result student have to bear a late fee charges of eligibility fixed by the university.

Q-31. How is the effectiveness of PDP programs evaluated?

Our students undergo rigorous training and are constantly put under evaluation mode from the start of the four years program. The much acclaimed AMCAT test endorsed by the corporate world is made compulsory for our children.

Q-32. What is the significance of AMCAT Test?

The AMCAT is computer adaptive test which assesses basic aptitude (English, quantitative ability and logical, reasoning abilities) from a job perspective. It also claims to perform advanced skill assessment for specific roles in the industries-IT, Mechanical, Finance, Semi-Conductor etc.

The test is conducted in two modules.

In the “compulsory module”, it claims to test aptitude and personality skills, which include English comprehension, quantitative ability, reasoning and logical ability.

In the “optional module”, it tests job skills as per the job prospective of different industries.

A comprehensive 20 page report is generated for each student and is shared giving in-depth information about child personality.

Q-33. Apart from Academics, what are the various welfare facilities provided for the students?

Gymnasium/Sports Facilities

To provide the facility of indoor games like chess, table-tennis and Badminton to the students, standard gymnasium named after “Nawab Sher Mohammad Khan” has been constructed, wherein modern equipment/machines for physical exercise have been installed.

For outdoor games, the college sports complex comprises various grounds viz. Football, Volleyball, Cricket, Hockey, Kabaddi, Lawn tennis, Basketball, Handball ground and a 400meter Athletic track.

Swimming Pool Facility

An international standard indoor swimming pool is being used by the college students and staff under the supervision of a swimming coach and a life guard. It is monitored round the clock for cleanliness and quality of water. The time schedule is fixed for boys, girls and the staff members.

Medical facilities

The college has well equipped dispensary to provide medical facility to the students and staff. A well qualified doctor is always stationed in campus to attend to any emergency it it arises. MoU has been signed between Lohia Mission Hospital, Sirhind, British Columbia and Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Educational Trust.

Centralised Automated Library

A fully automated library, attached with multimedia lab, has around 40000 text books as well as 8000 titles, more than 1500 books on general topics, subscription to many national and international journals. The facility to view online journals ia also available. The college makes use of “National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning, (NPTEL), which provides IIT level e-learning through web video courses.

Digital Classrooms

To improve the pedagogy the college has set up twelve digital class rooms which are equipped with multimedia projectors, computers and internet connectivity. The faculty makes use of power-point presentations, electronic boards, audio and video clips for making the teaching and learning more effective and contemporary.


A centrally air conditioned and state-of-the-art auditorium is constructed with aseating capacity of around 750 persons. It provides ideal environment to conduct extra-curricular activities in the college.

Hostel Facilities

Sufficient accommodation for the students is available in the form of 7 hostels (AC and Non-AC), 5 boys hostel and 2 girls hostel to accommodate 900 boys and 700 girls. All the hostels have been provided with internet access along with uninterrupted power supply.

Q-36. Is there any dress code for the students?

In order to maintain the uniformity and to enhance their personality of the students, there is a formal dress to be worn at least once a week . The dress material will be provided and stitched by the vendors available in the college campus itself. The charges for the dress are included within the fee structure. No extra charges will be charged for the same.
