Q4. What is a criterion for taking admission at BBSBEC?

In B.Tech

  • Admission based on JEE 2017 merit for 85 % ,Punjab state quota and 15 % other state Quota
  • 2/3 seats are filled through central counseling by the university,1/3 by the management on merit.
  • Apart from other state government reservations the college has reservation for rural and sikh minority candidates
  • The details of statutory reservation s are given in MRRSTU information brochure
  • The candidate need to stake claim of the reservation while registering for admission at the university portal.
  • If no registration is claimed the candidate is treated as general category candidate.

Q5. What is the admission policy for rural reserved candidate?

Candidate may avail the benefit of rural reservation if he or she satisfies the following conditions

  • His/Her parents are permanently residing in the rural area.
  • He/She has studied for a minimum period of 5 year from may recognized/affiliated school located in rural area.
  • He/She has passed 5th /8th/10th OR 10+2 from a school /college located in rural area.

Q6. What do you mean by management quota?

The management quota seats are gift for candidates who are talented but fail to perform well in the final and entrance exams. In Management quota 33 1/3 % seats are reserved for these gullible students. Moreover out of management quota out of 5 % of the total sectioned seats shall be filled from amongst Non-residing Indians (NRI)/Persons of Indian origin (PIO)/foreign national students and other related categories, in accordance with the procedure stipulated in the PTU information broacher.
The management shall fill these seats purely on merit in accordance with the following order of preference
1. Merit in JEE 2017/state govt./university notification/
2. Marks secured in qualifying examination i.e non medical 10+2. An advertisement will be published in leading newspapers (National and Regional) Regarding the schedule of counseling.

Q7. Major Benefits under SRE

  1. No management fee shall be charged from students for admission in Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College from students who come through SRE.
  2. Scholarships under SRE:
For candidates with more than 60% marks in Plus two Rs 5000/-
For candidates with more than 65% marks in Plus two Rs 10,000/-
For candidates with more than 75% marks in Plus two Rs 15000/-
If the student maintain attendance above 75% and achieves similar percentage in marks, the scholarships will continue in the following semesters also.

Q10. What is the admission policy for M.Tech Program?

All those candidates who have passed B.Tech with at least 50 % (45% in case of candidate belonging to Reserved category) in aggregate shall be eligible. The preference shall be given to GATE 2017-18 qualified candidates. A scholarship test will be held for all the candidates seeking admission in MTECH. Upto 50% off on your tuition fees.

Q11. What is the admission policy for M.B.A Program?

All those candidates who have completed their graduation in any Stream (BA, BBA, BCA B.Com, B.Sc, B.Tech, B.Pharmacy etc) shall be eligible for admission.

Q21. Is the college associated with various academic and professional societies for the practical know how of the students?

The college has signed an academic tie up with the IIT Ropar for six months internships & workshops for our students. The college successfully runs professional chapters (ISHRAE, ISTE, CSI, IEI, SAE) to support value addition by certifications.

  • Under the academic association with the IIT Ropar, our students undergo six months training and six monthly FDP at IIT Ropar.
  • Students from all branches are trained for the online test for free softwares (that are part of IIT Bombay FOSS – Free open-source software Project).
  • IIT Bombay Spoken Tutorial Online Test conducted at the BBSBEC campus. So far more than 500 students have undertaken the test.
  • NPTI – Naya Nangal has conducted the Energy Audit of the campus by BEE certified auditors and Power Engineering certificate courses for B Tech students.

Q22. Apart from Professional qualification, what are the various programs available for enhancing the overall personality of the candidate?

Personality development programme for the students is mandatory from first semester itself. To enhance the personality of students, structured training programs are executed by the experts for enhancing the soft skills, language skills, facing interviews, building logical mind and finally group discussions.

Q23. How the PDP lectures are scheduled and are they really beneficial for the career development of the students?

These programs are embedded in the university academic curriculum as add on and are executed in parallel. The PDP programs help in building confidence and clarity of thoughts in students  resulting in motivating them in achieving what is aimed in life, whether in business, corporate life, Defence Services, IAS, IPS, pursuing foreign graduation or to become a successful entrepreneur.

Q24. How the effectiveness of PDP programs evaluated?

Our students undergo rigorous training and are constantly put under evaluation mode from the start of the four years program. The much acclaimed AMCAT test endorsed by the corporate world is made compulsory for our children.

Q25. What is the significance of AMCAT Test?

The AMCAT is computer adaptive test which assesses basic aptitude (English, quantitative ability and logical) nd personality from a job perspective. It also claims to perform advanced skill assessment for specific roles in the industries-IT, Mechanical, Finance, Semi-Conductor etc.The test is conducted in two modules.

In the “compulsory module”, it claims to test aptitude and personality skills, which include English comprehension, quantitative ability, reasoning and logical ability.

In the “optional module”, it tests job skills as per the job prospective of different industries.

A comprehensive 20 page report is generated for each student and is shared giving in-depth information about child personality.

Q26. What type of food is available in the hostel on routine basis?

Vegeterian food is provided.

Q28. Is there any dress code for the students?

In order to maintain the uniformity and to enhance their personality of the students, There is a formal dress to be worn at least once a week. The dress material will be provided and stitched by the vendors available in the college campus itself. The charges for the dress are included within the fee structure. No extra charges will be charged for the same.

Q29. Can a compartment student get admission?

As per the college norms, a student having compartment in one subject can get provisionally admitted with the condition that the student will clear the compartment before the last date of eligibility check conditions.
