STPI Mohali is an autonomous society under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Govt. of India It has been set up with a distinct focus to boost Software export from the country. STPI has launched the concept of an incubation facility in many of its centers for SMEs. STPI sets up the entire facility ready for commencing operations by software units from day one. It offers the advantage of no gestation period and does not require capital investment. It helps in developing confidence in the client and ensures that the business opportunity is not lost. The faculty members visited the incubation centre and will guide students on the steps and procedures to initiate their own start-ups. A MoU between STPI and our college has been planned to sign.

Recent Technology Trends for Entrepreneurs

Institute Innovation Council and CSE Department of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib organized an Expert Talk on “Recent Technology Trends for Entrepreneurs” on June 23, 2022 under the impact lecture scheme initiated by the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell, AICTE. Er. Anshdeep Singh(Analyst, Sales Operations Dell Technologies) was the resource person and also alumni of the institute. The speaker introduced students about the different technologies and their trends in the field of entrepreneurship. He also highlighted how an entrepreneur can take advantage of a trend. The main motive of this talk was to make students aware of entrepreneurship skills with the rising technologies they should adopt and the role of leadership in entrepreneurship. His lecture was very informative and appreciated by the students. The students were found engaged throughout the lecture.

The introductory session of the webinar was handled by Prof. Rupinder Kaur, faculty in Computer Science and Engineering Department. She welcomed the guests, organizing committee and the participants. The talk witnessed the gathering of more than 60 students and well appreciated by the audience.

Dr. Lakhvir Singh, Principal, gave the welcome address. He highlighted the need of entrepreneurship and also congratulated the endeavor of the organizing members. Dr. Manpreet Kaur President, BBSBEC-IIC emphasized the importance of the programme. Dr. Jatinder Singh Saini (Head, Department of CSE) gave the vote of thanks and also motivated the students to participate in these kinds of workshops. Prof. Sandeep Kaur Dhanda, Prof. Rupinder Kaur (Training and Placement Coordinators) and Prof. Ramanjot Kaur were the organizers of this event.

 


Report of the Seminar Conducted on “Critical Skills in Business”

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgrah Sahib organized the expert talk under the Impact lecture scheme initiated by the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell, AICTE.It was the moment of integrity and pleasure for the college due to many reasons. The keynote speaker of the seminar was Er. Fatehjit Singh Dhillon. He is a proud Alumnus of BBSBEC and a successful entrepreneur. He delivered the lecture on “Critical Skills in Business“.

The introductory session of the expert talk was handled by Dr. Arishu Kaushik, faculty in Mechanical Engineering and IP Coordinator, BBSBEC IIC. He welcomed the guests, organizing committee and the participants. More than 50 students attended the seminar.

The lecture mainly focused on the skills required to become a successful entrepreneur. He highlighted all challenges that he faced during his journey before being recognized as a successful entrepreneur. He also shared the multiple challenges that he was facing presently in order to compete, survive and grow. Needless to say that this knowledge reached the souls of students as he presented his journey in a very humble way. His lecture was very informative and got huge appreciation from the students. The students were engaged throughout the lecture. In addition, the expert also encouraged students to develop skills for becoming entrepreneur and self-dependent person. In response to students’ interest, Dr. B.S. Bhullar HoD (ME) proposed the organizing team to plan a 3 days workshop/seminar on this topic in next semester so that students can be become practical in their approach and impart skills for becoming an entrepreneur. At the end of the session, Dr. Manpreet Arora, President, BBSBEC-IIC, thanked the expert speaker and Institutions Innovation Council, MoE’s Innovation Cell, for their support and funding for the event. The college innovation council team assured that they will always put their best foot forward to make the future events, a success. Honorable Principal Dr. Lakhvir Singh congratulated the organizing team and said such expert talks enable the students to become aware of the multi-faceted challenges faced by entrepreneurs. He also added that the talks would certainly help the students in imparting skills to become a successful entrepreneur.

 


Seminar conducted under Impact Lecture Scheme

Best Entrepreneurship Ideas for Civil Engineers

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgrah Sahib organized the expert talk under the Impact lecture scheme initiated by the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell, AICTE. The event was jointly done by BBSBEC-IIC and IEI India in Civil Engineering Department was organized on 21th June, 2022. All civil engineering students attended the lecture. The speaker Er. Karnail Singh is Retd. Senior Manager of NFL, India. Presently he is providing consultancy in the field of construction, retrofitting of buildings and high-rise buildings. He is holding number of projects under his private firm in construction. The topic of lecture was “Best Entrepreneurship Ideas for Civil Engineers”. The lecture was based on providing basic knowledge of construction practices in field to undergraduate students. The expert guided the students about the general test procedures for checking quality of material on site as well as during purchase.  The drawings provided by speaker showed the general mistakes that happen in laying and providing steel reinforcement in major projects. The students showed keen interest in live videos from various sites and raised queries about their doubts. Honourable Principal Dr. Lakhvir Singh congratulated the organizing team. He also appreciated the content of the expert talk and motivated the students to gain practical knowledge along with the theoretical. Report of the Seminar Conducted  on “Idealization of Physical Systems-Innovations in Mechanical Engineering

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgrah Sahib organized the expert talk under the Impact lecture scheme initiated by the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell, AICTE. The event was jointly done by BBSBEC-IIC and ISHRAE BBSBEC Student Chapter in Mechanical engineering department. It was the moment of honour and gratification for the college. The keynote speaker of the seminar was Dr. Mohammad Talha. He is an Associate Professor at IIT Mandi and delivered the lecture on”Idealization of Physical Systems-Innovations in Mechanical Engineering”.

The introductory session of the webinar was handled by Dr. Harmesh Kumar, faculty in mechanical engineering and Start-up Coordinator BBSBEC IIC. He welcomed the guests, organizing committee and the participants. More than70studentsattended the seminar.

The lecture mainly focused on modeling and simulation of real time engineering problems. The expert thoroughly explained how to convert a real-time problem into a first engineering model, then a mathematical model, and finally a simulation model with the help of some interesting case studies. His lecture was very informative and appreciated by the students. The students were found engaged throughout the lecture. In addition, the expert also encouraged students to develop reading habits beyond their curriculum. In response to students’ interest, Dr. B.S. Bhullar HoD (ME) proposed the organizing team to plan a3days workshop on this topic in next semester so that students can practice on simulation tools of the MAT Lab. At the end of the session, Dr. Manpreet Arora, President, BBSBEC-IIC, thanked the expert speaker and Institutions Innovation Council, MoE’s Innovation Cell, for their support and funding for the event. The college innovation council team assured that they will always put their best foot forward to make the future events, a success. Seminar on“Interpersonal Conflict Management”

The Department of Management Studies organized the seminar on “Interpersonal Conflict Management” on March 24th, 2022 at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, FGS. The eminent speaker Dr. Ran Singh Dhaliwal was from Punjabi University Patiala. The objective behind organizing this lecture was to make students understand how to resolve interpersona lconflicts in every sphere of life.

Dr.Ran Singh said the conflict can be a positive creative force, when it increases communication, releases stored feelings which results in the growth of the relationship between parties in conflict and improves performance. He told there are various ways to resolve conflicts like bargaining, negotiating, mediating and communication facilitation considering the existing scenario of the organization. At the end speaker undoubtedly explained that there is a need to resolve conflicts as far as possible for the improvement of the organization.

Dr .Lakhvir Singh,Principal BBSBEC shared his views regarding seminar and guided the students to learn good interpersonal skills to improve the relationship. At the end vote of thanks was given by Dr. Jasleen Kaur (HOD, MBA Deptt) to the eminent speaker for delivering such an informative seminar .She encouraged Time 2 Shine Club Student Coordinators Shamsher Singh and Rohit Raj Sinha and applauded Faculty Coordinators Prof. Prabhjot kaur and Prof. Manjit Kaur for their sincere efforts.


EXPERT TALK ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and Institute Innovation Cell, BBSBEC organized the expert talk on “Artificial Intelligence” on Feb 24, 2022. The seminar focused on the study and design of intelligent systems that perceives its environment and takes actions like human beings.  Dr. Sonia, Assistant Professor at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib was the eminent speaker.

The talk was started with the introduction to the speaker given by Prof. Simarpreet Kaur, HOD (ECE). The speaker discussed the booming technologies of science and engineering in context with Artificial Intelligence (AI) which is ready to create a new revolution in the world by making intelligent machines. The AI is currently working with a variety of subfields, ranging from general to specific, such as self-driving cars, playing chess, proving theorems, playing music, Painting, etc. She also discussed about the scope of research in this field as well as the grooming applications in the field of astronomy, healthcare, transport, gaming, data security, social media, robotics, entertainment, agriculture, education and many more. Almost 40 students along with faculty of the institute attended the seminar. Dr. Raju Sharma, Seminar Coordinator and member of IIC, BBSBEC winded up the program with a special vote of thanks to the speaker.


 Seminar on “Research and Innovation”

The Department of Management Studies organized the seminar on “Research and Innovation “on February 21, 2022 at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, FGS. Dr. Manpreet Kaur (HOD RIC and President –BBSBEC IIC) was the eminent Speaker for the Seminar. The objective behind organizing this lecture was to enlighten the students about the theoretical and practical aspects of research.

Dr. Manpreet Kaur extends immense respect to the idea of research and explained how good research facilitates the development of society. She also emphasized on the fact that good research should be socially relevant and of contemporary in nature. She highlighted the duties of a critical scholar and how the same would affect the quality of research. And she also explained all the aspects with the help of illustrations and examples that provided a clearer understanding to the students regarding research and innovation .The lecture also touched upon another view with respect to the qualifications or traits to be present as a research scholar. .The students were extremely overwhelmed by the lecture delivered by the speaker as it would be very effective for their career and future work on research.

Dr. Lakhvir Singh, Principal BBSBEC shared his view about the seminar and encouraged the students for research work. ONLINE WORKSHOP ON HTML BASICS [WEB DEVELOPMENT]

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and BBSBEC-Institute Innovation Council organized the Online Workshop on “HTML Basics [Web Development]” on Feb 17, 2022. The workshop was focused on the study and outstanding uses of HTML for the professionals in the real world.  Dr. Raju Sharma, Assistant Professor in ECE Department at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib was the eminent speaker.

The workshop was started with the introduction to the speaker given by Prof. Simarpreet Kaur, HOD(ECE). The speaker discussed about Web Page development and HTML used for creating links that are displayed on the World Wide Web. Every page contains a set of HTML tags, including hyperlinks which are used for connecting to other pages. The speaker also discussed about the web document creation using HTML tags, the cutting edge features, and responsive images on web pages, data entry support using HTML and many more. Almost 40 students along with faculty of the institute attended the seminar. The students showed keen interest in attending the webinar and tried to practice the same while learning. Online Workshop on “Canva: Graphic Designing Tool”

The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering and BBSBEC-Institute Innovation Council organized the workshop on “CANVA- Graphic Designing Tool” on Feb. 03, 2022. The seminar focused on the study and design of posters using CANVA tool. Dr. Raju Sharma, Assistant Professor in ECE Department at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib was the eminent speaker. The speaker introduced the concept and design schemes used in this tool to design social media images, web banners, marketing brouchers, flyers and business etc.

There were around 50 participants who registered for this workshop and it was in Online Mode. All participants were awarded with “Certificate of Participation”. The Principal Dr. Lakhvir Singh congratulated all the participants. Prof. Simarpreet Kaur (Head, ECE Department) appreciated Dr. Raju Sharma (co-ordinator) for her efforts.


MIC Driven Activity – Inauguration of “e-Symposium on Building Innovation and Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Educational Institutions”

E-Symposium on Building Innovation and Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Educational Institutions was held on 11th to 12th Jan 2022 as part of the ‘National Innovation Week’, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) celebration.

The Ministry of Education, AICTE, and Ministry of Commerce and Industry (DPIIT) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India  are jointly organized it. The innovation week has highlighted various initiatives undertaken and discussions on various thrust areas related to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship in our country.


“My Story-Motivational Session by Successful Innovators”

The Management Department and College Innovation Cell organized the seminar on “My Story-Motivational Session by Successful Innovators” on December 6, 2021. The program started at 2:00 pm. The eminent speaker of the seminar was Mr. Harinder Singh Hundal, Director from Aemyo. The focus of the seminar was to provide motivation to the students so that they can become successful entrepreneurs. The welcome address and introduction of the speaker was given by Komal Kapila, Student of Management Department.

Mr. Harinder Singh Hundal, started with the quote “Don’t go for temporary motivation, go for your drive”. He discussed that everyone has his own definition of success; certain people are successful by their own imagination which means human mind is always prone to his imagination. He gave so many motivational examples, explained the case studies, which motivated audience a lot.

 

Dr. Lakhvir Singh, Principal BBSBEC shared his views about the seminar topic at the end and honour the speaker with a memento. The seminar ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Manpreet Kaur-President of College Innovation Cell.


ENTREPRENEURSHIP SKILLS, ATTITUDE AND BEHAVIOUR DEVELOPMENT

The Department of Management Studies and BBSBEC Innovation Cell organized the seminar on Entrepreneurship Skills, Attitude And Behaviour Development” on December 3, 2021. The seminar focused on the development of entrepreneurship skills and behaviour development of the individuals. Dr. Raminder Singh Uppal- Professor at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib was the eminent speaker.

He focused on two main words “LOVE” and “FREEDOM” and understanding for love and freedom in real sense-for ultimate success. In his lecture, he discussed that freedom is all about inner space and outer space. The preconditioning leads to enslavement, which means dependent on others. Preconditioning related to love is a common misunderstanding, in order to understand love; you have to focus on yourself. Love refers to the feeling of being related to all, responsible towards all, giving to all in continuity and self-verification leads to freedom. Thus, conditioning leads to imagination and imagination leads to the attitude and behavior of an individual. These human values contribute a lot in the personality development of the students. A student with good values is always a good entrepreneur. The programmed winded up around 12:00 noon. The vote of thanks was given by Dr. Manpreet Kaur-President of College Innovation Cell.

Jagnoor Singh, Chief Business Officer, LIDO Learning,Guragaonand Dr.Amandeep Singh Marwaha,Associate Director, Central Placement Cell, Panjab University Chandigarh. Er. Jagnoor Singh delivered the lecture on c” and Dr. Marwaha shared his valuable knowledge on “Social Entrepreneurship and its Impact”. Dr Amandeep Singh Marwaha discussed about the social entrepreneurship approaches by the individual and the group entrepreneurs in which they have developed, funded and implemented the solutions to the social, cultural and environmental issues. The introductory session of the webinars was handled by the teacher coordinator of Innovation council, Dr. Sonia. She welcomed the guests, organizing committee and the participants. More than 100 students registered their virtual presence to the webinar through Google meet. Speaking on the occasion, the principal of the college, Dr. Lakhvir Singh expressed his profound gratification for being the privileged partner of MoE Innovation Cell under this scheme. He also formally welcomed the guests on the virtual portal. He advised the students to listen to the speakers very carefully as these expert lectures are a source of abundant knowledge which may bring rich dividends to them in future. Dr. Suresh delivered the lecture on “Creativity and Innovation-A key to Globalized Environment” and Er. Sandhu shared his valuable knowledge on “Business Plan and Strategies for a Successful Start-Up”.

Er. Mubarak Singh Sandhu explained in detail the Business plan, the organizational plan, the marketing plan and the financial documentation. He discussed the methods to make these plans and their importance to initiate any start-up. The students learnt how to structure, run and grow a new venture. The webinar was very informative and interactive for the students. Various strategies required to open a new company were discussed by the speaker.
