Exhibition of the projects made by final year students

An exhibition of the projects made by final year students of Mechanical Engineering Department was organized on 17th November, 2017. Students of final year demonstrated and explained their projects in the exhibition. A total of 23 projects fabricated by final year mechanical engineering students were show cased. Mechanical engineering students of I, II and III year were benefited from this exhibition. Senior faculty members of the department gave feedback and their valuable suggestions to the participating students. Dr. Lakhvir Singh, Head of Department, congratulated all the students for undertaking such innovative & research oriented projects. Dr. G.S. Lamba, Principal, said the college provides our students the best infrastructure and lab facilities to carry out innovative and research oriented projects.

Industrial Visit to ‘GNA’ Mehtiana

The Mechanical Engineering Department of BBSBEC has organized industrial visit for Final and Pre-final year students of Mechanical Engineering to ‘GNA’ Mehtiana in October, 2017. Dr. Lakhvir Singh, Head of Department, has said the visit is aimed at giving students the technical exposure about various mechanical processes going in GNA. Maj. Gen. (Dr) GS Lamba, Principal has said that such tailored visit develops the thought process of our students and helpful in relating their theoretical concepts with practical applications.

Alumni Meet 2017—BBSBEC FGS

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib organized the alumni meet REVISITING NOSTALGIA-2017 on 11^thNovember 2017. About 100 alumni of different streams from batches 1993 to 2013 attended the reunion of their alma mater. The alumni interacted with faculty and students and shared their expertise and experiences. The Principal, Dr. G. S. Lamba inaugurated the alumni meet and acquainted them with the various achievements of the college. Dr. Manpreet Kaur, Convener, Alumni meet delivered the welcome speech and appreciated the participation of alumni. The alumni cherished the pleasant and memorable experiences they had while being students at BBSBEC, Fatehgarh Sahib. The institute also invited and collected feedback from the alumni regarding the changes in the curriculum taught to students.

Dr. Lakhvir Singh, Head, Mechanical Engineering conducted the interaction programs of the present Mechanical Engineering students with the alumni. The distinguished alumni motivated the students and provided guidance in the area of career growth and building successful career. The interaction with the alumni touched upon various topics including the contribution of alumni in placement, the conduct of knowledge sharing sessions, assistance for internships and other social service activities. The alumni enjoyed the cultural program by students of the college, which proved to be a great entertainer. Dean Academics-Dr. Lakhwinder Singh ended with proposing the Vote of Thanks.

Boeing IIT National Aero Modelling Competition

Aeromodelling team participated in the Boeing IIT National Aero Modelling Competition at IIT delhi on 22 April 2017. The team consists of three students from the final year of mechanical engineering namely Mr Harmandeep Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Mr Harpreet Singh, The aero modelling team got the 3^rd position. Teams from throughout the nation participated in the competition.

An Industrial Visit to ‘Diesel Loco Modernisation Works’ Patiala

The Mechanical Engineering Department of BBSBEC has organized industrial visit for Fourth semester students of Mechanical Engineering to ‘Diesel Loco Modernisation Works’ Patiala from 7^th to 9^th March, 2017. Dr. Lakhvir Singh, Head of Department, has said the visit is aimed at giving students the technical exposure about various mechanical processes going in DMW. Dr Lakhvir said that the department will also provide to students such exposure in future also. Maj. Gen. (Dr) GS Lamba, Principal has said that such tailored visit develops the thought process of our students and helpful in relating their theoretical concepts with practical applications. Dr Lamba further said that the college will provide students all kind of financial assistance for undergoing such king of visits and training.

TWO DAYS WORKSHOP ON

Product Design using FEM

A 2-days workshop on “Product Design Using FEM” was organized successfully by Mechanical Engineering Department from 18-19 February 2017. The workshop was designed to provide basic skills to the students on industry standard tools and practices using Applied FEM. This short course helped the students to approach the designs based on 21st Century Approach “Simulation Based Engineering Approach”. At the end of the course, the participants learned the theory and implemented quality meshing and analysis techniques of various types (1D, 2D, 3D in FEM problem). An Exclusive Android Mobile App was also developed and a local server was configured to conduct the Screening Test.

College level Quiz Competition’17

Jan 8^th, 2017 (Fatehgarh Sahib), BBSB Engineering College has successfully organized a College level Quiz Competition’17 in collaboration with Mechanical Engineering Dept. BBSBEC & IEI student’s chapter BBSBEC. Around 100+ students from various departments of the college has registered for Quiz prelims, out of which 4 teams comprising 4 students each, were shortlisted on merit for the finals. This quiz comprised technical, social, general science, politics & GK related questions. Winners of this quiz competition were facilitated by college Principal Maj. Gen. (Retd.) (Dr.) G. S. Lamba, Dr. Lakhvir Singh HOD Mechanical Engineering Dept., Dr. Niraj Bala HoD RIC BBSBEC. All the present dignitaries appreciated the effort and encourage student’s spirit and enthusiasm. Principal Sir, specially congratulates to the participants and the winners; He also appreciated the student volunteers who successfully conducted this whole event by their effective leadership & event management skills. He wished that in future more such type of events should be organized with a mass participation from the students. During the valedictory ceremony HOD ME dept. Dr. Lakhvir Singh, HoD RIC Dr. Niraj Bala distributed participation certificates to all the participants & wished good luck for the upcoming opportunities.

1	Feb.28th, 2017 (Fatehgarh Sahib), NSS Unit BBSB Engineering College has successfully organized a One-Day visit to CSIO, Chandigarh (formerly CSIR-CSIO Chandigarh) to celebrate National Science Day. A student Delegation of 30 students along with 3 faculty members visited this prestigious organization
2	March 15th, 2017 (Fatehgarh Sahib), Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College has organized „One Day Educational-cum-industrial Visit‟ for BBSBEC NSS Volunteers to Bakhra Dam, Kotla Power House and Gurudwara Tibbi Sahib (Ropar) on March 15th, 2017. Nearly 90 students who are active NSS volunteers of BBSBEC NSS Unit from different departments (Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Civil and MBA)
3	April 3rd, 2017 (Fatehgarh Sahib), A Blood Donation Camp was organized by the NSS Unit of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College in coordination with the Department of Transfusion, PGIMER (Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research) on April 3rd , 2017. The Camp was organized in the campus on the occasion of„13th Death anniversary of Panth Rattan Gurcharan Singh Tohra‟ who was the founding president of BBSB education Trust. The team of doctors from PGI, collected a total 120 units of blood which accompanied NSS volunteers, students and faculty members.
4	To spread awareness on cleanliness as a part os Swachh Bharat Abhyan, NSS unit of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College Fatehgarh Sahib observed Swachh Bharat Pakhwada from 1/08/2017 to 15/08/2017. During this period different activities were conducted that included awareness lecture on cleanliness by faculty and rally by the students to create awareness about cleanliness. The students took swachhta pledge. A cleanliness drive was organized by the NSS volunteers to make the campus free from plastic waste.
5.	A declamation contest was organized by NSS unit on 30/08/2017. The event was dedicated to 75^th anniversary of Quit India Movement.
6.	To spread awareness about HIV and AIDS among youth, NSS unit BBSBEC and Red Ribbon club organized an essay writing and slogan writing competition on 16^th Nov. 2017. About 50 students participated in the event.
