Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib was established in the year 1993, under the patronage of Shriomani Gurudwara Prabandhak Commitee, Sri Amritsar, with the approval of the Govt. of Punjab for the purpose of providing quality technical education to our youth. The college was a dream project of Panth Ratan Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Tohra, ex-President of SGPC. The college is named after Baba Banda Singh Bahadur, a great saint and warrior, who conquered the Sirhind fort and laid to rest, the tyranny of the Mughal Empire. The college is approved by the AICTE, New Delhi, Ministry of H.R.D, GOI and is affiliated to I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.
The college is committed for its quality content programs which are endorsed from time to time by the National Board of Accreditation AICTE. The highly qualified staff and world class infrastructure further bagged NAAC –A status to its portfolio which is prestigious and a matter of pride in northern India. The college known for its professional ethical practices is accredited by the Institution of Engineers (IEI), a largest multi-disciplinary professional body of engineers.
The college runs various undergraduate and post graduate programs primarily in technical arena and is spread across 75 acres of land hosting academic blocks, laboratories, hostels, guest house, auditorium, swimming pool, fitness centre, sports stadium and accommodation for faculty and staff.The proud BBSBEC alumni placed in multinational companies fully justifies the course outcomes and attributes focussed upon.
The college is committed to uplift the rural youth by reserving seats in its academic programs for the deprived students. The college offers lowest fee structure among its competitors with ample space for scholarships under various categories to economically weaker/fatherless and meritorious students. Students pay very nominal charges for availing the facilities like hostel, mess, canteen and college transportation. Changing the personality and making them industry ready is a challenging task and the college is committed to achieve so.
BBSBEC is all set to touch new heights and is continuously striving to live up to the expectations of its founders and all stakeholders. But Covid pandemic crisis has adversely affected the philanthropic mission of the institute. Insufficient funds have put college in a tough financial situation. Infrastructure maintenance, prolongation of scholarship schemes, salary of 250 staff members, rising costs of college supplies, regular up-gradation of labs with the latest technological advancements, conduct of student and faculty development programs,and push for innovative educational techniques requires substantial funds. Our organization has recently started a fundraising campaign to uplift the current financial crisis. Any amount you can contribute will make a huge difference.
