Nature Club
“Nature club” is an initiative of dept. of Agricultural engineering, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering, Fatehgarh Sahib with the vivacious aim to spread the awareness about nature among the mankind. The club is founded by Prof. Pankaj K. Thakur (Assistant Professor, Agri.Engg.) and his students Karan Kumar (Batch 2019), Jashandeep Kaur (Batch 2019) and Aditi Kahar (Batch 2020) under the learned supervision of Dr. Lakhwinder Singh (Dean academics and HoD, Agri. Engg.) and Dr. Lakhvir Singh (Principal, BBSBEC, FGS). In the 2022 Global Hunger Index, India ranks 107th out of the 121 countries with sufficient data to calculate 2022 GHI scores. With a score of 29.1, India has a level of hunger that is serious. According to an article published on a Hind Rise, in India around 20 crores of people are still unable to afford two times food. On the other hand, India wastes 2 lakh crores of food per annum (profthakur.in). Taking about the water, India has only 4% share on worlds total available water, whereas it has to serve around 17% of the world’s population with this limited water resources. Therefore, Food and Water security is a prime concern to be taken care. Keeping this idea in mind, to spread the awareness about food and water, nature club initiated a slogan program on the inaugural day of the club. The slogan stickers were pasted in all the hostel cafeteria (mess) and canteen in the lively presence of Dr. Lakhvir Singh (principal, BBSBEC), Dr. Lakwinder Singh (dean academics & HoD Agri.Engg.), Dr. R.S. Uppal (Chief-warden), Dr. J.S. Oberoi (HoD, T&P Cell), Dr. APS Sethi (DSW), Dr. Manpreet Kaur (HoD, RIC and UBA coordinator), Prof. Pankaj K. Thakur (Asst. Prof., Agri.Engg. and chief faculty coordinator, nature club), Prof. Prabhjot Kaur (Asst. Prof. Agri.Engg. and faculty coordinator, nature club), Smt. Rakhi Rani (Chief-advisor, nature club), Prof. Ashish Kumar (Asst. Prof., Mech. Engg.), Prof. Avtar Singh (Asst. Prof., Mech. Engg.).
