A two-day Workshop was organized on the topic “App Development with Flutter” on 16-17 March 2022 by Department of Computer Science & Engg. At Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib (Punjab). GDSC BBSBEC, IEEE student Branch, BBSBEC ACM Student Chapter & Institution Innovation Council collaborated to organize this two-day workshop under the campaign of “Flutter Festival-BBSBEC”.

Flutter is an open-source UI software development kit created by Google which can be used to develop cross platform apps for Android, iOS, Linux, Mac, Windows, Google Fuchsia, Web platform, and the web from a single codebase.

Expert speaker of the workshop, Er. Sahibgun Singh Bhasin (CEO Technecky & an alumnus of CSE Deptt. of the college gave informative insights about entrepreneurship and the start-up world.

In this workshop, students learnt about the whole process of developing and deploying an app in Flutter & also learnt below:

  • Introduction to the tools and techniques used to develop the MVP – Minimum viable product, a Software Solution using Flutter and Firebase.
  • Finding a Problem from our surrounding which could be solved using Software Solution
  • Designing Software Architecture and Data Flow of the MVP
  • Developing the Working MVP Software Solution

Participants participated with great zeal and zest and gave the ideas for developing the app using Flutter and Firebase. On the whole, the event was a grand success, as the participants enhanced their knowledge about the software industry as well as about the Flutter and App designing process.

Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa, (Professor & HoD, CSE) appreciated Er.Sahibgun Singh for motivating and sharing technical skills with students. Dr. Lakhvir Singh (Principal BBSBEC) expressed the need for more such workshops in near future. Prof. Ramanjot Kaur (Coordinator of event) delivered ‘Vote of Thanks’.
