Posted By bbsbec3 on August 16, 2020All India 2-days Workshop on Practical Approach towards Deep Learning was organized at Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib on July 11th-12th, 2019.
Er. Janak Raj Garg, Chairman & Committee Member of Punjab and Chandigarh State Centre, IE(I) gave the welcome speech during inaugural ceremony. He said that the event is planned on the theme “Deep Learning” which is the fastest growing field of Artificial Intelligence. He said that deep learning is concerned with the study and design of computer algorithms for learning good representations of data, at multiple levels of abstraction. Major General (Dr.) G.S Lamba, Principal welcomed the Chief Guest Prof. Sarabjit Singh, UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh . Dr. Gaurav Kumar, Director of Magma Research and Consultancy, Ambala was the Guest of Honour on this occasion. Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra, Head of Department, CSE addressed the audience about the features and applications of Deep Neural Networks (DNN). Er. Khyati Marwah, Convener of the Programme told about the theme of the workshop . Er. Sukhvir Singh Mundi, Honorary Secretary, Punjab and Chandigarh State Center, IE(I) gave the vote of thanks. Er. Shivinder Singh, Council Member, IE (I) was also present during the inaugural ceremony.
During the first technical session, Dr. Sarabjit Singh introduced Academicians and Research Scholars with a fundamental concept of Machine Learning and Deep Learning. He covered various issues and related topics such as Feed Forward Neural Networks, Back Propagation, Computing Gradients and Principal Component Analysis with respect to Deep Learning algorithms and their applications. In the session 2 of day 1, Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra explained the multi-layered algorithms based on Deep Neural Networks (DNN) to achieve critical breakthroughs in object recognition, facial recognition, and image/voice/speech recognition. Dr. Gaurav Kumar discussed about the concept of Convolution neural Networks and Recurrent Neural Networks along with Statistical Modeling.
On the second day of the programme, Dr. Balkrishan emphasized on Advanced framework of Deep Learning, Image Data Training and Predictions, Transfer Tuning, Real time applications and implementation of pre-trained models during technical session 1.Dr. Arjan Singh, a key speaker of the evening session, delivered a lecture on Cloud based Deep Learning, Activation functions and tuning along with the Hands on session using R, Python and other tools in second session. Mr. Balwinder Singh from GSSS, Patiala, threw light on the topics such as Linear Regression, Decision Trees, Bayesian Networks and Clustering: K Means in his evening session. 75 participants from various Institutes of Punjab attended this programme. The participants were awarded Certificate of Participation by Er. J.R. Garg and Er. S.S. Mundi during the valedictory ceremony. Er. Khyati Marwah congratulated the participants and delivered the vote of thanks and assured of such programmes in future as it is boon for researchers to update their skills.
