The Mechanical Engineering Department at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College was established in the year 1993 with an intake of 30 students for the course of B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. The current intake in the Mechanical Engineering Department for B.Tech (ME) is 150. In addition to graduate courses, the department also offers Post-Graduate courses, viz, M.Tech (CAD-CAM). The department is ISO 9001:2000 certified and is accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and The Institution of Engineers India (IEI).
A number of Short Term Courses, Seminars, and Conferences are conducted by the Department on a regular basis. The Student Chapter of ISTE, IE(I), SAE and ISHRAE are well established. The department aims at educating qualities like leadership, teamwork, self-confidence and good communication skills among its learners.

For providing the hands-on training and making the students practice the maximum to embellish their tech- skills, The Department conducts various workshops on a regular basis. These workshops are organized by the students themselves under various student chapters so as to polish their leadership, teamwork and professional skills. Invited professional techies share their real-life experience with the students to prepare them for what lies ahead.
Introductory workshop/seminar on Aero modelling was organized by the AERO club of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur engineering college, Fatehgarh Sahib.
Engine Performance Workshop :
SAE Collegiate club Mechanical Engineering Department of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College Fatehgarh Sahib, organized a seminar on “The real way of comparing engines Performance”.

Workshop on IC Engines Dismantling and Assembling was organized by BBSBEC SAEINDIA Collegiate Club under the patron ship of Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Workshop on “Basics of Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (RAC) Concepts”
The BBSBEC-ISHRAE student chapter has organized a one day workshop on the basics of “Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (RAC)” for the final year students of Mechanical Engineering.
Workshop on Solidworks :
A Software Training Workshop on Solidworks has been organized in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Workshop on Product Design using FEM :
An exhibition of the projects made by final year students of the Mechanical Engineering Department was organized. Students of final year demonstrated and explained their projects in the exhibition. A total of 23 projects fabricated by final year mechanical engineering students were showcased.
The Mechanical Engineering Department provides industrial exposure to the students by making them visit Industries. It does not only turn them into professionals but also inculcate the adventurous spirit in them.

Various competitions and quizzes activities are always held in the college to warm the student’s spirit to think creatively and innovatively. The Students participated in various competitions held at other institutions.
The Mechanical Engineering Department conducts various workshops, competitions and quizzes under various student clubs and chapters. These help students to polish their skills of speaking, developing, teamwork and most importantly to add sparkle to their leadership skills and personality development.

In order to develop the overall personality of each student, The Department runs personality development programs and auditorium sessions as complimentary. In these sessions, besides polishing the unique personality of the students, the department helps students to get prepare for various competitive exams like GATE, CAT, etc.
Mechanical Engineering Department insists that the students have at least 3 internships during their degree time. So as to get hands-on experience from industry. Thus, making it possible for the students to acquire real-time & practical knowledge as showcased in the theoretical concepts. Also, In-house training is provided to the students for enhancing the skills on Lab equipment and Industry based software’s.
For providing the opportunities to the students to get campus placements without any difficulty, the Department conducts the placement drives. The Training and Placement Cell takes this task on their shoulders and works hand in hand with the Department. The companies are invited on the Campus to recruit students for their Companies.
Following companies, placement drives held every year which recruit our highly passionate and skilled students.
To bring the researchers and developers on a common platform, the Department conducts national conferences. In these conferences, students get a dazzling opportunity to meet known faces of industries and the reputed professionals of the research and development areas. In this, the students get to know the real-life experience of both the professionals and industrialists which make them overcome every difficulty in the path of their goal.
To guide the students to be ready for the placement drives, the Department utilizes the services of the Training and Placement Cell of the college. The Cell conducts various workshops, expert lectures and motivational lectures for the students of all branches in the college. Thus, it helps the students to develop their overall personality. This cell also provides facilities for the students to prepare them for Campus placement drives and various competitive exams.
The Mechanical Engineering Department of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib has attended a three days workshop on EACS (Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp for Students).
