Agricultural Engineering students visited Kisan Mela at Punjab Agriculture University, Ludhiana

Department of Agricultural Engineering, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a one day visit for Kisan mela at PAU Campus, Ludhiana on September 23, 2022. The visit was organized by the department with aim to impart the present-day knowledge and skills in students curriculum vitae. Students explored to the numerous modern-day high-tech agriculture machinery and different smart and precision agriculture techniques during the visit. Principal Dr. Lakhvir Singh, Dr. J.S. Obroi (HoD, T&P Cell) and Dr. Lakhvinder Singh (Dean Academics &HoD Agri. Engg.) highly appreciated the visit organized by the department and said that this type of educational and learning-centric visit not only give an exposer to the new learning to the students but also makes leaning joyful. The college bus set off to the PAU campus Ludhiana early morning at 9:30 AM. The students were accompanied by Prof. Pankaj K. Thakur, Prof. NitikaRathi and Prof. Prabhjot Kaur for guidance and take care of the students during the trip. Kisan Mela is best place to visit, where you get the collective knowledge of present day and future agriculture techniques in a single place which includes modern farm machinery, high-tech irrigation techniques and next generation food processing and green energy solutions.

Industrial Visit to Verka Milk Plant, Patiala of Agriculture Engineering Students

Department of Agriculture Engineering in coordination with Training & Placement Cell, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib organized an industrial visit for Agriculture Engineering students of Batch 2019, 2020 and 2021 at Verka Milk Plant, Patiala on March 25, 2022. The aim of organizing this industrial visit was to give the students exposer of modern-day automation in milk industries. In the plant, students learnt raw milk testing, which comes from villages in the insulated milk tankers, milk pasteurization and sterilization, milk automatic packaging, curd preparation and packaging processes. The students were satisfied with the visit, gained valuable knowledge & learnings out of it and really enjoyed the trip.

The visit was organized under the learned supervision of Dr. Lakhwinder Singh, HoD, Agriculture Engg.Dr. J.S. Oberoi (HoD, T&P), Prof. Pankaj K. Thakur (Training Coordinator, Dept. of Agri. Engg.), Prof. Nitika Rathi (Asst. Prof., Agri. Engg.) and Smt. Rakhi.

VERKA PATIALA

Industrial visit to well esteemed milk plant ”Verka”, Patiala was organized for the students of B.Tech. Agriculture Engineering on 14th September’18. Verka Plant is the leading supplier of milk and manufacturer of milk products (Lassi, Ghee, Paneer and Kheer) in Punjab. The manufacturing plant has the capacity of 40000 ltr milk supply per day. The plant was fully automated and produced 3000 cups per hour of curd, value added milk products (Lassi, Ghee, Paneer and Kheer).

Mr Jagjeet Singh (Marketing Head at Verka Dairy Plant) had interaction with the students about the overall manufacturing process and the technology is using to manufacture their products. The students were taken to the assembly line and shown the manufacturing and packaging of milk and flavored milk. The technology used in this processing of flavored milk, processing milk based products and overall packing process has also been discussed with the students. The Quality Standards are properly followed during the manufacturing process.

At last, Mr Jagjeet Singh handled the various queries of the students in a very effective manner. The staff of the plant was very co-operative and the visit to the plant was very knowledgeable and resourceful especially for B.Tech (Agriculture Engineering) 3rd year students because they are studying dairy and food engineering course in running semester.

HF SUPER CHANAKYA DAIRY PLANT

To augment student’s skills and to provide industrial exposure, Industrial visit organised on August 29, 2019 at HF Super Chanakya Dairy Plant, Mandi Gobindgarh respectively for B.Tech (Agriculture Engineering) students.

HF Super Dairy Plant is the leading supplier of pasteurized packaged milk, standard, tonned, skim milk and manufacturer of milk products (pasteurized butter, Lassi, Ghee, milk powder and ice cream) in Punjab. The manufacturing plant has the capacity of 5 lakh ltr milk supply per day. The plant was fully automated and produced 4000 cups per hour of curd, value added milk products (Lassi, Ghee and butter). It has 9 chilling Centre’s to maintain high quality of procured milk by preserving its freshness and nutrients

Students have applauded the infrastructure of company along with the processing unit, which enlightened them about the factory process and latest trends and techniques. Students have also praised about the hospitality and the safety measures taken. The entire industrialist appreciated the efforts of BBSBEC for organizing the industrial visit, which enhance the professional and practical knowledge of the students.

At last, Mr. Navneet Singh shows the presentation about company and handled the various queries of the students in a very effective manner. The staff of the plant was very co-operative and the visit to the plant was very knowledgeable and resourceful.
