Estd. by SGPC Recognizing the need for imparting quality education in the field of Management Studies, the Department of Management Studies (DMS) was established at BBSBEC in 2008. The Department is offering two years full-time Masters of Business Administration (MBA). In 2020 department has started three year Bachelors of Business Administration (BBA) program. We offer specializations in Finance, Marketing, Human Resources Management and Information technology.
The Department aims at giving a practical touch to the theoretical foundations in the field of Management Studies. Its activities comprise teaching, research, publishing and consulting. The Department of MBA, Masters of Business Administration excels in teaching and research. Students are made to study and analyze real-life business situations in order to make sure that they find it comfortable when handling similar problems in their practical lives. Leadership skills of the students are enhanced by fixing responsibility for most of the Departmental and college activities onto the student community.
It is the sheer talent of our students that 23 research papers authored by the students have been published by the international journals of repute. The College has also published those papers in the form of a book titled ‘Research in Business and Economics’. Besides, eighteen research papers are under the process of publishing in this year. Our students have been placed for summer training in reputed organizations of the region. As per the feedback received from the training organizations, the students have proved their mettle over there.
Management Studies Department is very proud of its highly admired and imminent faculty, constant efforts of whom are important in turning our students into sparkling diamonds. The Department is embodied with entire doctorate faculty who are highly experienced in their respected areas. The faculty is very supportive and cooperative. Under the MBA Course, we are offering three specializations i.e. Marketing, Human Resource Management and Finance.
Case Development Initiative, the case method is a prominent instrument of learning at DMS. Our emphasis is on developing in-house case studies for broadening their level of thinking and to acquire new skills.
Fortnightly Guest Lectures, wherein the experts from Industry/ Academics visit the Department every fortnight. In this way, the students get opportunities to rub shoulders with the best brains in business;
Business News Analysis, wherein the faculty analyzes the daily business news to the students to enrich their knowledge regarding the current happenings in the corporate world.
Discussions/Quiz, are included in the time-table and the students actively participate in these under the able supervision of expert faculty.
Rich e-library subscribes to the best e-journals and the students get access to articles, case studies, research papers and abstract of the doctoral thesis in various fields of business; and
Excellent opportunities for Research, with the help of which the students get expert supervision for conducting value-based research and writing the Research Papers on the practical issues being faced by the corporate and society in general. These papers, in turn, are sent to the National/ International Journals/ Conferences for publication.

The industrial visit was organized at Blue star ltd, Kala Amb on 23rd October 2018. This event was organized by ISHRAE club in collaboration with Mechanical and MBA students. Around 40 students accompanied the visit. It was very fruitful for the students as they got the opportunity to interact with intellectual and experienced people from the industry. There were taken to the various departments to understand their functioning in detail. The manufacturing standards were explained and the queries of the students were also handled in a constructive manner. They had an HR interaction, in which they were given practical knowledge regarding the HR policies, social work and welfare, recruitment and selection procedures and about day to day support provided to the employees.
A one-day Industrial visit to well-esteemed milk plant ”Verka”, Patiala was organized for the MBA students on 21st August 2018. Verka Plant is the leading supplier of milk and manufacturer of milk products (Lassi, Ghee, Paneer and Kheer) in Punjab. The manufacturing plant has the capacity of 40000-liter milk supply per day. The plant was fully automated and produced 3000 cups per hour of curd, value-added milk products (Lassi, Ghee, Paneer and Kheer).
Mr. Jagjeet Singh (Marketing Head at Verka Dairy Plant) had interaction with the students about the overall manufacturing process and the technology is used to manufacture their products. The students were taken to the assembly line and shown the manufacturing and packaging of milk, manufacturing of flavored milk, their filling and checking and packaging. The technology used in this processing of flavored milk, processing milk-based products and overall packing process has also been discussed with the students. The Quality Standards are properly followed during the manufacturing process.
At last, Mr. Jagjeet Singh handled the various queries of the students in a very effective manner. The staff of the plant was very co-operative and the visit to the plant was very knowledgeable and resourceful.
To disseminate the knowledge of energy efficiency measures at the grass root level, PEDA with the support of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) had organized a State Level Debate Competition on Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency in Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College on 17th October 2018 in association with GMK Infra Solutions LLP.
Maj. Gen. (Dr) G.S. Lamba, VSM, Principal, BBSBEC was the chief guest and inaugurated the event. Mr. Anant Singh, Managing Partner, HVAC Engineering Chandigarh, Dr.Mooninder Singh, Professor, Thapar Institute of Engg. And Technology, Patiala and Mr. Sukhwinder Singh, DM, PEDA were the jury members. More than 50 students from various engineering colleges across Punjab participated in the competition which was conducted on 4 different topics covering energy conservation and energy efficiency in Industry, IT/ITeS& Services Sector, Lighting and Buildings.
Mr. Karan Kandhari, CEO, GMK Infra Solutions LLP shared various knowledge sessions of short duration with the participants covering Roof Top Solar and Opportunities for Engineering Graduates in Energy space.

Freshers’ party is all about making the best start to the new academic year. A time to create everlasting relationships with each other. Continuing with the proud tradition of the college, the students of MBA second year have organized a Fresher’s party “SMAASH” to formally welcome the first year students on 31st October 2018 at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib. With pulsating ambiance, flashing lights and foot tapping music, the party began with a blast. It was a fun-filled event at which the fresher’s got an opportunity not only to showcase their talents and but also to interact with the seniors. Mr. Navjot Singh and Miss Ravneet Kaur were selected for the titles of Mr. Fresher and Miss Fresher and S. Anamveer Singh and Miss Pardeep Kaur were given the titles of Mr. and Miss Talented. Finally, the program ended, leaving behind sweet memories that will be cherished lifelong.

To guide the students to be ready for the placement drives, the Management Studies Department utilizes the services of the centralized Training and Placement Cell of the college. The Cell conducts various workshops, expert lectures and motivational lectures for the students of all branches in the college. Thus, it helps the students to develop their overall personality. This cell also provides facilities for the students to prepare them for Campus placement drives and various competitive exams.
Management Studies Department is equipped with well-furnished labs to facilitate its students for carrying out various projects and research work. In addition to this, the entire campus is wi-fi which helps the needy students to use internet free of cost.
