HOST INSTITUTE

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College (BBSBEC), Fatehgarh Sahib is a premier technical institute, established in 1993 by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), with an aim to contribute to the society through technical education and research. The college is named after the saint soldier Baba Banda Singh Bahadur who was bestowed by Guru Gobind Singh Ji to command the struggle against Mughal Empire in North India. BBSBEC was the first college affiliated to PTU, Jalandhar to get its courses accredited by National Board of Accreditation (NBA). Currently, the college is offering 10 Post Graduate courses and 7 Under Graduate courses. The huge, unparallel and updated infrastructure developed on 90 acre land in 23 years and the highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty are the backbone of the college. The college has developed a healthy research oriented academic learning environment that has led to the faculty getting research grants of more than Rs. 10 million in the recent years from various funding agencies such as AICTE, DST, CSIR etc. for undertaking diverse research projects. The faculty and the students of the college have filed 6 patents in the last one year and are awaiting the examination of the same.

FATEHGARH SAHIB

The holy city of Fatehgarh Sahib is the place where Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s younger sons, Baba Zorawar Singh and Baba Fateh Singh, were entombed while still alive and his mother, Mata Gujri Ji, also left for heavenly abode here. The place also holds significance for people of other religions as well and many historic temples and mosques dedicated to saints of the faiths are established here. The town is surrounded by four memorial gates each in the memory of four important figures from Sikh history associated with Sirhind. Each of these belonged to different caste or religion, showing the harmony and brotherhood among the people of those times. Sirhind is also noted as burial site of Sheikh Ahmad Farooqi Sirhindi, a great Sufi Saint and founder of Naqshbandi-Majaddaddi School of Sufism. An ancient site of Harappan culture is maintained at Sanghol by Archeological Society of India. Moreover, the royal city of Patiala and Chandigarh are at a distance of just 40 kms from here. Some more details about the city may be found at http://www.fatehgarhsahib.nic.in

It is the winter season here in North India in these days and the temperature generally remains low in the range 8°C-10°C. The participants are advised to pack your bags accordingly. The information about the weather conditions will be updated on the website.
