Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College always strives to inspire and motivate the students in every means possible. With an aim to provide awareness on Civil Services, the Training & Placement Department of BBSBEC have conducted a webinar on ”Civil Services as career option” on September 25, 2020. The renowned personality known as ”Success Guru” Mr. A. K Mishra (M. D Chanakya IAS academy) had interacted with aspiring students of civil services and guided them to bring the right potential of an individual by breaking those changes and barriers that have eclipsed human mind. The webinar helped the students to understand the civil services better and also in adopting practical techniques to crack the UPSC Examination.
On this occasion, Major General Dr. G. S Lamba, Principal BBSBEC applauded the efforts of Training & Placement and appreciated that this webinar assist the civil services aspiring students to find the right path and directions to achieve their goal. Technical Preparatory Workshop for OATI Placement Drive
A Preparatory technical workshop on C, C++ and Java has been conducted on March 11, 2020 for the B.Tech final year students of CSE, ECE and EE. The renowned IT experts from A2IT Mr. Deepak Upadhyay and Mr. Rajeev Kumar delivered the session on C, C++ and Java respectively. The students have been trained on basic concepts of C, C++ and Java advance along with the implementation and programming. Moreover, the basic concepts of software engineer, HTML and database have also been cleared. The workshop especially designed to prepare the students for the forthcoming placement drive of Open Access Technology India Pvt Ltd. All the students took an active part in the workshop and made it more interactive with cross questioning.

A Seminar on “Latest Trends in Mechanical Engineering” for the third year & final year students of Mechanical Engineering has been conducted in campus. Mr Neeraj Mahay (Sr. Design Engineer) from GNA Gears delivered the session, where in he enlightens the students about the role of CAD, CAM, FDM, Computer Aided Engineering and Robotics in Mechanical Engineering field. Industrial Visit to Bhawani Industry, Modern Automotive and HF Super Dairy Plant Mandi Gobindgarh

To augment student’s skills and to provide industrial exposure, three industrial visits organised on August 28 & 29, 2019 at Bhawani Industries, Modern Automotive and HF Super Chanakya Dairy Products Mandi Gobindgarh respectively for B.Tech students. A group of fifty students along with two faculties visited each company and had interaction with the HR Manager and technical department to understand the industrial work culture, current scenarios, latest trends and companies’ requirement from students as a fresher’s. The motive of these programs is to provide best of technological grooming, so that students can improve their employability skills, furthermore the Industry – Academia gap can be bridged with these programmes.

Latest Trends and Future of Technology

Awareness session on latest trends and future of technology has been organised in CSE seminar hall on August 7, 2019 for B.Tech-CSE third year students. Dr. Hari Krishna Maram, Chairman at Vision Digital India and Vice Chancellor of Universal Digital University, Bangaluru was the key speaker. Dr. Maram specialised in concept development, market research, brand positioning, university/AICTE/UGC guidelines, Institutional building and international marketing. He had been the Digital Brand Ambassador, Vision Digital India and also the Chairman and Founder- CEO of Imperial College. Dr. Maram made the students aware about the latest trend of technology and how it is going to restructure the future. The role of digital marketing and social media in present era were also elaborated. Furthermore, Dr. Tulika Mehta, Director at Kaizen System proceeds with the session on importance of resume writing, wherein she emphasised on various techniques of resume writing and how it helps someone to get shortlisted for job interview.

Mr. Gulati having more than 14 years of experience is a Communication & IT expert and possesses excellent skills in career counselling. The motive of these programs is to provide best of technological grooming, so that students can improve their employability skills. The session started at 1100 hrs with refreshment followed by company tour, Mr. Davender Guleria (Centre Head) had interaction with students and enlighten the students that how BTES in actual bridge a gap between Industry and Academia.

A Motivational session by Ms. Ritu Singal conduced on February 20, 2019 for B.Tech 2015, 2016 & 2017 batch students along with all the MBA students. Ms. Ritu Singal is an entrepreneur, runs Real Estate and manufacturing companies. In 2011, Ms. Singal was bestowed the honour of being the women entrepreneur of the country and was awarded a special prize for the same by none other than Mr. Narayan Murthy of Infosys, also Nominated ‘Woman of the Year Award 2010’ by Dainik Bhaskar Group.
Ms. Ritu Singal has an interactive session with students and emphasized upon “Mera Time Ayega” through her remarkable combination of her personal style, her extra ordinary skill which affects the students and motivates them to expand their self confidence and enrich their attitude. The workshop was aimed at improving the skills of writing effective Resume, Group Discussion, and tips for facing the Interview by panel of speakers namely Er. Amandeep Kaur, Dr. S. S. Patnaik and Dr. Sunil Dutt. The students from MBA and B.Tech (All branches) actively participated in the program and made it more interactive, where in the speakers explained the topics in detail and quite efficiently.

Industrial Visit NIELIT Mohali

A one day Industrial visit to well esteemed milk plant ”Verka”, Patiala was organized for the students of B.Tech. Agriculture Engineering on 14th September’18. Verka Plant is the leading supplier of milk and manufacturer of milk products (Lassi, Ghee, Paneer and Kheer) in Punjab. The manufacturing plant has the capacity of 40000 ltr milk supply per day. The plant was fully automated and produced 3000 cups per hour of curd, value added milk products (Lassi, Ghee, Paneer and Kheer).
Mr Jagjeet Singh (Marketing Head at Verka Dairy Plant) had interaction with the students about the overall manufacturing process and the technology is using to manufacture their products. The students were taken to the assembly line and shown the manufacturing and packaging of milk, manufacturing of flavored milk, their filling and checking and packaging. The technology used in this processing of flavored milk, processing milk based products and overall packing process has also been discussed with the students. The Quality Standards are properly followed during the manufacturing process.
At last, Mr Jagjeet Singh handled the various queries of the students in a very effective manner. The staff of the plant was very co-operative and the visit to the plant was very knowledgeable and resourceful especially for B.Tech Agriculture engineering 3rd year students because they are stuyding dairy and food engineering course in running semester.

Interactive Session for Pre Final & Final Year Students Aspiring to Join Indian Armed Forces

Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib takes due care of the students aspiring to join Indian Armed Forces. Students have always been encouraged and educated about the various existing entry schemes into the defense services. Training & Placement department organized an exclusive session for pre final and final year students of all B.Tech branches on 13th September 2018, where in college principal Maj Gen (Retd.) Dr G. S. Lamba (VSM) interacted with more than 100 students and enlightened them about the University Entry Schemes of Indian Army, Indian Navy & Indian Air Force. The exhaustive session was very informative for the students where they got to know about the history of UES, eligibility criteria for UES, various officers like qualities required for cracking the SSB, Selection procedure which includes personal Interview rounds by the selection board at respective college/University, and various processes undertaken at SSB for clearing the exam. Students felt overwhelmed by the in depth knowledge they acquired through this session and were enthusiastically registered for further information and preparatory workshops in future for the same.

Seminar on GATE for Civil Engineering

A seminar on GATE for Civil Engineering final year and pre-final year students has been conducted today i.e. September 13, 2018 in R9. The session was delivered by Dr. Vikas Kataria, M/Tech IIT Delhi, he addressed the students on Basic Mechanics & some numerical problems on truss, method of section 8 to solve truss problems, moreover enlighten the students about jobs in various PSUs, Centre & State Government departments and about Engineering Services Examination. Students took active participation in the session and made it more interactive session. We would also like to appreciate the civil engineering department for their support and coordination, which left us motivated to take further initiatives.

Interactive Session on GATE & ESE: For Electrical Engineering Students

With an aim to apprise the students regarding the opportunities available through clearing the GATE examination as well as the importance of Engineering Service Examination (ESE), the Training & Placement department organised an interactive session today i.e. on 13/09/18 at seminar hall of Electrical Engineering department. The Electrical Engineering students of 5th & 7th semester actively participated in this session. Mr Gulshan along with his technical team interacted with the students and explained them the several opportunities in Public Sector Enterprises, research organisations and admissions in various IITs, IISc and NITs with a valid GATE scorecard. Students were also educated about the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) conducted every year by UPSC for staffing to the various Central Government departments.

Workshop on Composite Material & its Applications

A workshop was organised for B.Tech (Mechanical, Civil) students on “Composite Materials & its Applications” on 28/03/2018. Mr Deepak & Mr ramandeep Sidhu from Aerosphere conducted the workshop and enlightened the students about the typical engineered Composite materials including: Reinforced Concrete and Masonry, Composte Wood such as plywood, Reinforced Plastics such as Fibre-reinforced Polymor or Fibreglass, Ceramic Matrix Composites, Metal Matrix Composites and other advanced Composite Materials. The students took keen part and learned a lot during the workshop.

Experiential training on collective growth and institutional building

A one day off-campus experiential learning workshop for faculty on “Collective Growth and Institution Building” organized on March 17, 2018 at Village Mirzapur, Abhipur. The workshop which was conducted by a senior coach and corporate trainer, Mr Jaideep Grewal. The focus of workshop was to build a relationship between teaching processes and work life, collective planning, brainstorming and creating win-win situations. The program was successfully completed and perceived well by the staff. The session was very inspiring and Mr Jaideep Grewal guided the staff on various aspects of creating success like self-awareness, team building , planning and perseverance.

An Auditorium session on “How to develop Employability Skills” for B.Tech and Diploma students being conducted on Thursday (15/03/2018). Renowned Psychologist and Corporate Trainer Dr Sohan Singh Chandel conducted the session for B.Tech and Management students. He elaborated various traits which are required from the students to earn his/her dream job e.g. Communication skills, Problem solving, Initiative and enterprise, Planning & Organising, Self- Management etc. The students actively participated during the interactive session.

Training & Placement department of BBSBEC invited Ms Himani Agarwal, a seasoned Management Professional into college for an interaction with the newly admitted 1st year students of varied branches on 28th July 2017. The renowned speaker delivered a session on “Conquering Your Fears by Exploring Self”. She had elucidated her own philosophy about life that there is no challenge insurmountable if worked hard enough for. ALPLA selected 34 students from BBSBEC Fatehgarh Sahib
Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College has again placed itself in the pioneering position in providing quality placement opportunities to the students of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering by inviting ALPLA in the campus for 2018 passing out students.
ALPLA is an Austrian leading international manufacturing company, largest in Europe for plastic packaging and provides their customers packaging solutions on highest level. The company has a total of 172 production plants in over 45 countries worldwide.
The company delegation headed by Mr Surendra Babu, Vice President (HR & Admin) along with Mr Harwinder Singh, Business Head, Baddi unit interacted with students and briefed them about company and its operations in India and abroad. Mr Surendra Babu appreciated the college infrastructure, departmental labs and teaching learning facilities provided by the college to its budding engineers. A total of 109 students of Mechanical & Electrical Engg participated in this exclusive drive, and finally 34 students got selected for Silvassa, Hyderabad, Sitargunj and Baddi plants.
On this occasion Dr. G. S. Lamba, Principal, said that college has emerged as a leader in placements and every year, the number of participating companies escalate giving students a wider range of opportunities to spring their career. The college trust’s Secretary Dr. Paramjit Singh Saroya congratulated the students and department of Training & Placement, Mechanical and Electrical Engg. for the achievement, also thanked the ALPLA officials for providing the opportunity to the students.

Industry Academia Interaction Program (2-4 March 2016)
With an initiative to apprise the students about the trends and practices which are currently ongoing in the industry, BBSBEC successfully organized an Industry Academia Interaction Program from 2nd March to 4th March 2016. The partner companies who have signed a MOU invited to deliver the interactive workshops/Seminars in this regard. The details of the same is given below:
- 2nd March 2016: A team from TCS ION visited the college to deliver the workshop on Android and Python 4th & 6th Sem students of CSE/IT and ECE were present for this workshop. Ms Manpreet Kaur & Ms Trupti delivered the workshop.
- 3rd March 2016: Mr Vikram Grover, Head NYX India Operations and Alternate Director of NYX Software Design PVT Ltd visited BBSBEC to deliver the workshop for Mechanical Engg students of 4th & 6th Sem. Mr Grover shared various cost reduction strategies, multi-tasking and cross-functional techniques. He also briefed about thecost-effective manufacturing and tooling processes based on lean manufacturing.
- 3rd March 2016: Under Industry Academia Interaction Program Mr Japjit Singh Arora, Territory Sales Manager – Punjab from ACC Concrete, ACC Limited visited the BBSBEC campus to deliver an expert lecture for 4th & 6th semester students of Civil Engineering.
- Mr Jatinderpal Singh Manchanda, Guru Nanak Industrial Corp along with Ms Baljit Kaur Managing Director VMAD visited the college to mentor the 1st Year students. They effectively motivated the students about entrepreneurship setting their goals to achieve the excellence in their professional life.

To develop the leadership qualities in the budding engineers BBSBEC invited Col Urvinder Singh, a top level leadership trainer in the college. He is having an experience of 30 years with Indian Army and United Nations. He is a passionate trainer, entrepreneur, a great story teller and a glass walker.
The workshop was oriented towards leadership indulgences, what makes leaders unique and to demonstrate leadership qualities. The workshop was delivered on 3rd February 2016.
