Workshop on “ Cloud Computing
Department of CSE, BBSBEC has organised a “Workshop on Cloud Computing” on 28 April ,2022. Mr. Harish Chawla(Manager-IT, Oceana tech) was the speaker of the event. Mr. Harish is a CCNA, MCSE and Juniper Certified Professional and has 12 years of experience in cloud computing. Students of 4th semester got tips during a workshop that covered different modules related to cloud services like computing, analytics, storage and networking.
Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa,Head & professor,CSE told that the primary aim of the workshop is to help students to stand out and get hired faster.
Dr. Lakhvir Singh ,Principal,BBSBEC told that Students have to be industry ready. He shared that knowing the subject matter is not enough. He stressed upon the need of having practical knowledge so that students can get better placements. Prof . Sandeep Kaur Dhanda,Training Coordinator,CSE presented the vote of thanks. Prof. Ramanjot Kaur ,Assistant Professor ,CSE was also present during the workshop.
Workshop on Cyber Security
Department of CSE, BBSBEC has organised a “Workshop on Cyber Security” on 26 April ,2022. Mr. Sham Sunder (Network and Cloud administrator, Solitaire Infosys) was the speaker of the event. Mr. Sham Sunder is a Motivated and innovative engineer who has 5 years of experience in network security. Students of 4th semester got tips during a workshop that covered different modules related to cyber security and its threats. An Aptitude test for B.Tech ( 4th Sem) and BCA (4th Sem) was also conducted by the team.
Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa,Head & professor,CSE told that students will be selected for Scholarship based Six Weeks training in Solitaire Infosys after results.
Dr. Lakhvir Singh ,Principal, BBSBEC gave the information that a total of 80 students have given the test and he appreciated the efforts put by the Prof . Sandeep Kaur Dhanda( Training Coordinator,CSE) and Prof. Rupinder Kaur(Placement Coordinator,CSE) .
folk vibes(A cultural fest)
A cultural fest “Folk Vibes 2022” was organized by Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College – Fatehgarh Sahib on the blissful occasion of Vaisakhi on April 19, 2022. Students showcased various forms of talent like singing, dancing, drama and modeling related to the culture of Punjab. Fun games were organized for Faculty members. Chief Guest of the program Mrs. Anita Darshi, PCS – Additional Deputy Commisioner, Fatehgarh Sahib graced the occasion with her auspicious presence and motivated the youth to stay connected to their culture. The other guests included eminent personalities like Sardar Jagdeep Singh Cheema Ji, trustee of the college and his son Kaka Ji. At the end prizes were given to the winners in various categories. Principal Dr. Lakhvir Singh congratulated all the winners.

Flutter event
Two days offline workshop was held on the topic ‘App Development with Flutter’ on 16-17 March 2022 organized by the CSE Department, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College. GDSC BBSBEC, IEEE student Branch, BBSBEC ACM Student Chapter and Institution Innovation Council collaborated to organize this two day workshop under the Campaign of Flutter Festival BBSBEC. Prof. Ramanjot Kaur, (Assistant Professor, CSE) was the convener the workshop. Dr. Lakhvir Singh, (Principal, BBSBEC) welcomed the expert speaker of the workshop, Er. Sahibgun Singh Bhasin, CEO Technecky & an alumnus of the college. He gave informative insights about entrepreneurship and the start-up world. Participants participated with great zeal and zest and gave the ideas for developing the app using Flutter and Firebase. On the whole the event was successful as the participants took up great knowledge about the software industry as well as about the Flutter and App designing process.

Modern Day Intellectual Property
Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, in association with BBSBEC ACM Student Chapter organised a webinar on “Modern Day Intellectual Property” on 4th March 2022.
Dr. Lakhvir Singh, Principal, BBSBEC welcomed the Expert Speaker of the day, Mr. Jaspreet Singh (Founder & CEO, IPQuad, New Delhi) and all the participants.
Prof. Perminder Kaur (AP CSE) briefed about the webinar and introduced the guest speaker to the participants. Mr. Jaspreet Singh discussed the importance and the need of all types of Intellectual property rights, and the process of filling applications for Patent and trademark protection. In the end, participants asked questions about intellectual property. More than 80 participants participated in the webinar. Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa (Professor & Head CSE) & Convenor of the webinar thanked the Distinguished Speaker Mr. Jaspreet Singh & appreciated the efforts of the CSE faculty in organizing the webinar.
SYSTEMATIC APPROACH FOR WRITING RESEARCH PAPERS: INDEXING AND CITATIONS
Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib organized a webinar on “Systematic Approach for Writing Research Papers, Indexing and Citations” hosted by IEEE Student Chapter on 9th February 2022. Dr. Lakhvir Singh, (Principal, BBSBEC) welcomed the Guest speaker of the day, Dr. A.V. Senthil Kumar (Professor & Director), PG & Research, HCAS, Coimbatore Tamilnadu and all the participants.
The webinar was organized by the convenor Prof. Ramanjot Kaur, (Assistant Professor, CSE). Prof. Divjot Kaur introduced the distinguished speaker to the participants and gave a brief description about his research achievements. The webinar highlighted all the important key points of research paper writing. Management of citation profile, social media handles and importance of attending conferences online &offline was also discussed by the speaker. Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa, (Professor & HoD, CSE), appreciated the efforts of CSE faculty for organizing the webinar.
Webinar on Data Science
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College organised a webinar on “Data Science” on 8th February, 2022. The head of department, Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa welcomed the expert, higher forum members and delegates on the occasion. He emphasised the need of Data Sciences and how it has been used for predictive analysis especially during the covid times. The expert Dr. Supreet Kaur Sahi from Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Institute of Management and Information Technology (SGTBIMIT), Delhi, delivered a very informative lecture on “Big Data and Data Sciences”. Through graphical analysis, she also highlighted the job scenario in this area. The students were highly motivated and showed interest in taking up projects related to this field.

Android Study Jams
Google Developer Students Clubs – Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College (GDSC-BBSBEC) department of computer science and engineering (CSE), organized a workshop “Android Study Jams” of one-month duration from 1st December 2021 to 16th January 2022. Hemant Sachdeva, a 3rd-year student of the CSE Department was nominated by GDSC Lead as the Facilitator of this program and he guided the students throughout the conduct of this workshop. The objective of this workshop was to apart knowledge to the students on Modern Android Application Development using Kotlin Programming language. During this workshop, students learned to develop their own beautiful and Real-World problem-solving Android Apps. At the end of the program, the participant’s team successfully submitted an Open Source android application named “G-Books” for downloading and buying E-Books. The application is graded good enough according to the App Submission Guidelines given by Google Developers resulting in which the Android Study Jams facilitator “Hemant Sachdeva” is awarded a Digital Certificate by Google Developers, Hoodie, Stickers, Android figurine, and Skill badges. All the participants who contributed to the app submissions are rewarded by Google with T-Shirts and digital certificates.
Principal BBSBEC, Dr.Lakhvir Singh congratulated Hemant and his team on well-deserved success and wish good luck for their future endeavors. Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa (Professor & Head, CSE Department) congratulated the students for their exemplary achievement and also appreciated their team efforts for the success of this event. He also appreciated Prof. Perminder Kaur (Faculty Advisor-GDSC-BBSBEC) for her valuable guidance in conducting such events in the department to bring students on a global level.
Internet of Things using Arduino
On day 1, the speaker of the workshop Basav Bamrah and Gurjeet Singh shared their knowledge of Introduction to Internet of Things(IOT), Importance and advantages of IOT, Introduction to Arduino, Components of Arduino, Sensors and Shields.
On day 2, Two projects ‘Obstacle detection using IR Sensor’s and ‘ Distance measurement using Ultrasonic sensor’ were made. The main aim of the workshop was to provide the basic knowledge of hardware and IOT. As IOT is used in wide range of applications like in Health care patient monitoring, traffic monitoring, forest fire monitoring, smart houses and in many other fields.
Department of CSE, BBSBEC has conducted A “Training cum recruitment drive” on 25 October,2021.Mr. Varun Kushwaha (Web Developer, Oceana Tech.) and Miss Mona (HR Executive,Oceana Tech ) interacted with the students of final year during the drive. Mr Varun has given the information that a total of 20 students were shortlisted by the company on the basis of written test and students will be further interviewed by the company’s technical team.
Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa,Head & professor,CSE told that students will be selected for stipend based 6-months training in Oceana Tech after results of Interview. He told that Oceana Tech is a software development industry which is Headquartered in Auckland,New Zealand .They have corporate offices in Delhi ,NCR and Mohali also.
Dr. Lakhvir Singh ,Principal,BBSBEC gave the information that during training period company will be offering up to 15000/- stipend according to student performance .After the training period ,company will be offering hike on salary package as per the performance of candidate up to 4.5 Lakh per annum. He appreciated the efforts put by the Prof . Sandeep Kaur Dhanda(Training Coordinator,CSE) .
Department of Computer Science & Engineering, BABA BANDA SINGH BAHADUR ENGINEERING COLLEGE, Fatehgarh sahib has organized a one day workshop on PYTHON-DJANGO on 16 September 2021 with joint collaboration of ACM Student Chapter, IEEE Student Chapter, IE(I) Student Chapter and Google Developer Student Club. Er. Parmeet Singh, Software Developer at AMDOCS and the pass out student of the institute in Computer Science and Engineering was the expert of the workshop. Prof. Jaspreet Kaur (Faculty Coordinator, IEI, Student Chapter) introduced The Guest Speaker of the workshop and gave the welcome address to the participants. Prof. Jatinder Singh Saini graced the occasion and formally started the event.
The workshop covered all the aspects of Python Django with the deploying of projects on Heroku. Students gained knowledge of the Django framework and used it to make dynamic and interactive web pages. More than 60 participants participated and appreciated the workshop widely. They were awarded with participation certificates.
Dr. Lakhvir Singh Principal BBSBEC enlightened the students with the importance of such workshops. He appreciated the efforts of the CSE department in organizing such events. Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa professor and Head (CSE), congratulated all participants.
An Expert Talk on the topic “Data Analytics and Cloud Solution” was organized in Computer Science and Engineering department, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering college, Fatehgarh Sahib. Mr. Paramjeet Singh Mundra, Principal Data and Cloud Solution architect, AWS certified, was the distinguished speaker of the talk. Dr. B.S Bhullar (Head of Mechanical Engineering Department) graced the occasion and shared his views. Prof. Ramanjot Kaur introduced the speaker to the participants. Approximately 50 students attended the event.
Mr. Mundra discussed about software techniques used by various companies. He emphasized on machine learning concepts and told about the data analysis tool called SPLUNK. He also enlightened the students about advancements in technology and motivated them to think of unique ideas giving examples of founders of Google and Facebook.

Online webinar ‘Curtain Raiser’ as an introduction to the new club
Google Developer Student Club (GDSC), Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Department of CSE has organised an online webinar ‘Curtain Raiser’ as an introduction to the new club. Mehakdeep Kaur, final year student of CSE and GDSC Lead at Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College hosted the session and introduced the various domains and their leads in GDSC BBSBEC for the academic session 2021-22.
The team of GDSC BBSBEC provided insights on their objectives to provide development skills for students to help them work towards employability.. They also discussed the trending topics (like Open Source, Web Dev, Android & Flutter App Dev, UI/UX Designing, etc.) that will be the focus area for the events that will be conducted under this club during the tenure of 2021-22.

BABA BANDA SINGH BAHADUR ENGINEERING COLLEGE in collaboration with IEI Student Chapter organized 3-days online Photography Competition “CAMERA CREW” from May 24, 2021 to May 26, 2021 with active participation of around 47 students. The registration was free of cost.
There were five categories under which the participants had to submit their photographs. Rahul Rajput, Kuldeep Singh and Harsha Uppalapatli were declared as the top 3 winners of the competitions. To appreciate the effective contribution of the participants, participation certificates were provided to all. The winners were awarded with Golden Certificates.
Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa, the Head, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, congratulated all the winners and praised all the students for their enthusiastic participation and wished them good luck for the future. Prof. Jaspreet Kaur, IEI Student Branch Counselor, shed light on the importance of participation in extracurricular activities during the pandemic period and how such competitions help keep the students motivated and provide a sense of connection and normalcy during tough times. She applauded the organizing team for their collaborative efforts which led the event to its success.

Tanuvir Singh from batch 2005 was the speaker of the event. Er. Tanuvir did his B-tech in computer science and engineering from Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College Fatehgarh Sahib and is currently working as a software engineer in Amazon,U.S.A.Principal BBSBEC, Maj.Gen.(Dr.) G.S. Department of CSE, BBSBEC has organised an online webinar “Working in Tech Industry: Software Developer Edition” on April 2,2021. Mr Sahibgun Bhasin, Founder and CEO of Cytogen Systems, Ludhiana was the distinguished speaker of the event. Principal BBSBEC, Maj.Gen.(Dr.) G.S. Lamba gave the welcome address and formally welcomed the distinguished speaker.
Mr Sahibgun Singh Bhasin shared his experiences while he was part of Software Developer Team .He discussed about the qualities a person should have to be fit in the Tech Industry.
Students were told how technology changes by time and emphasized to keep on learning new things .He also suggested them to join the online community to learn and adapt themselves. In his Talk, he discussed how students can update their skillset & learn Technologies for better placement.

Short Term Course for BTech (CSE) students concludes at BBSBEC
Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized 1-day Online Short Term Course on “Preparing Students for Job Interviews” through ICT on 20 Feb 2020 sponsored by National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR), Chandigarh. The speakers conducted video lectures on Resume Writing , Group Discussion and Appearing in an interview. The main motive of the course was to prepare students for job interviews. Around 80 students of final year took benefit from the event.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering in association with IIT-Bombay organized 5 Days-Remote Faculty Development Program on “Moodle Learning Management System” from 4 – 8 MAY, 2020. IIT-Bombay Spoken Tutorial is an initiative of MHRD & NMEICT of Ministry of HRD, Govt.of India. About 130 faculty & staff members from various institutions participated in this online FDP, remotely from their own place. It was conducted under the aegis of Student Chapter of IEI on the topic “Recent Trends in Technology: Emergence of Artificial Intelligence”. Dr. Williamjeet Singh(Assistant Professor, CSE Department, Punjabi University Patiala)was the resource person. He highlighted various AI techniques and its perspectives. Students of Computer Science and Engineering Department attended the talk and interacted with the expert. 14 students participated in Poster making competition. Mr. Manyot Singh bagged first position in Digital poster making and Mr.Gurcharan Singh got second position. In hand-made posters- Ms. Simranjeet Kaur, Mr. Damanjit Singh and Mr. Harneet Shah got 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Online Coding Event “Code Champ” on C/C++ , JAVA and PYTHON Language(20-07-2020 to 22-07-2020)
Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized 3-days National online coding event “Code Champ” successfully on C/C++ , JAVA and PYTHON language under ACM Student Chapter from 20-07-2020 to 22-07-2020.There were three rounds of a particular language everyday that includes Basic knowledge, Debugging abilities and Development Skills” to check participant’s coding skills and abilities for a good programmer. HackerRank platform was used for the competition.Total 215 participants were selected in this event. Out of these, participants reached in final round were 12 for C/C++ language, 19 for JAVA language and 21 for Python language. Top three winners of each language were announced and appreciated by e-certificates. All the participants performed with great excitement and overwhelming response was there.

Computer Science and Engineering Department of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib organized online Webinar on the topic “Coping with Covid: Youth and Mental Health” on 29.07.2020 under the aegis of IEEE Student Chapter. Expert for the Webinar was Ms. Charanjeet Kaur (Certified NLP Practitioner) from Fortis Hospital, Mohali. The seminar focused on the most recent pandemic ‘COVID-19’ and its effects on youth’s mental health. She discussed the various strategies with the participants on how to cope with same. She stressed on make a daily routine of the tasks to do and also emphasized the importance of meditation. She encouraged the youth for opting reading habits in their daily schedule and mentioned few books that revive energy. The Webinar was conducted simultaneously on three social media platforms using Google Meet, YouTube channel of CSE Department, and also on Facebook page of BBSBEC college. The seminar was focused on Emerging Technology, its role in Industrial Revolution, role of Artificial Intelligence and Challenges for AI with respect to Code of Ethics. Expert for the Webinar was Dr.Chun Che Lance Fung (Emeritus Professor) Murooch University, Australia. Dr. Lance Fung is a dedicated volunteer in the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (IEEE) for over two decades. He has served in many positions in the executive committees of Technical Society Chapters, WA Section, Australia Council and R10 Ex-Com. He has also been a member of the Board of Governors in the IEEE Systems and served as Chair of the IEEE New Initiative Committee (NIC),IEEE Technical Program Integrity Committee (TPIC) and currently as IEEE Educational Activities Committee. Amanpreet Kaur (IT Administrator & DBA) from Wipro Technologies,Canada. She is proficient in troubleshooting, installation, scheduling and configuration tasks on various operating systems and databases. She did B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (Batch-2003) from the host institute and have more than 13 years of experience in IT sector. She shared her past learning experiences of when she was a student at BBSBEC & told students about how to utilize time and seeking opportunities during the span of their course. Summary report of “Cyber Bullying” Quiz
A Quiz on “Cyber Bullying” was organized by Computer Science and Engineering Department of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib on 25th September, 2020. The quiz was conducted to create an awareness among the youth about cyber bullying and how to take action if he/she get cyberbullied. There were around 400 participants who registered the quiz and the quiz was in the google form which includes 5 different sections. Nearly 300 of participants actively participated in the quiz and 119 of participants scored 75% or more and are awarded with “Certificate of Excellence”. Many of them even score full marks in the quiz. The Principal Maj. Gen. One Day Bootcamp on Canva – Graphic designing Tool organized at BBSBEC, Fatehgarh Sahib
Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College Fatehgarh Sahib Punjab organized 1-Day Online Workshop – Bootcamp for girl students on “Canva – Graphic designing Tool”, under the aegis of IEI Student Chapter in collaboration with Girls x Tech organization. The objective of this workshop was to learn how to create a distinctive Brand Identity; develop own brand kit; create logos and website on Canva, thus developing learners into future professional designers. The workshop was exclusively for girl students only. More than 200 students/working professionals registered for the bootcamp. The workshop was delivered by Ms. Kriti and Aashna from Girls x Tech through Microsoft Teams. All learners appreciated the efforts of CSE Department and Girls x Tech for organizing knowledgeable workshop.

Computer Science & Engineering Department of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib(Punjab) organized Webinar on “How to excel & prepare for the placement opportunities offered by MNCs” held on 12 Oct. 2020 & was coordinated by Training & Placement team of CSE Department. The placement talk webinar was focused on honing the skills of final year students & to address the various developments reg. placement as being currently focused by the college. It was first of its kind initiative as the experts for the Webinar were the already MNCs placed students of BBSBEC (CSE Batch-2020) who shared their experiences regarding what they have gained during the placement drives and how it feels like to have job offers in hand. Er. Simran Kaur, Er. Sakshi, Er. Harjeevan Singh, Er. Taranpreet Kaur discussed with their juniors as how to make out the best of various recruitment opportunities, as available time to time from top notch firms like TCS, Wipro, Mphasis, Infosys, Cognizant, CapGemini, Digivalet and many more. All resource persons left no stone unturned in guiding and motivating their immediate juniors. The Webinar was conducted using Google Meet platform & also focused on etiquettes concerning interviews and on preparing better resume. Around 230 students participated in the webinar and found this webinar lively and highly motivating in these troubled times of COVID.

The IEEE chapter of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib had organised a Poster making competition on the theme “ My voice, Our equal Future” on International Girl child day 11 October 2020. The participants could showcase their skills by making both digital as well as hand-made posters and submit the same by 12 October 2020. Many students participated enthusiastically in this competition and won first three positions. The first position holder was Harneet Shah Singh, second Gurcharan SIngh and third Amanpreet Kaur. Mr. Nitin is Certified data scientist and has 21 years of experience in Industry. Coding Competition “CODEATHON”
Coding Competition “Codeathon” was organized on 14th October, 2019 at Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib under the aegis of Institution of Engineers (IEI) student chapter. The objective of the contest was to encourage students to explore their technical knowledge. There were three rounds in the contest. Round 1 was technical quiz, round 2 was debugging the code and round 3 was coding. Competition was conducted on online platform of Hacker Earth. Over 45 students participated in the competition. Armanveer Singh of second year CSE got first position, Second and third position was bagged respectively by Jaswinder Singh and Shivdeep Singh of final year CSE. Valedictory and prize distribution ceremony was conducted in the evening. Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa, HoD CSE department and Prof. Puneet Mittal, CSE Faculty Advisor – IEI Student Chapter highlighted the student activities of the event. Maj. Gen (Dr.) GS Lamba, Principal BBSBEC congratulated and gave prizes to the winners and encouraged the students to participate more in such events to brush up their technical skills.
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan in village Mirpur on 26-9-2019
An awarness campaign on “say No to Plastic” and use of solar energy was conducted at Village Mirpur in association with Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) and NSS club of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College Fatehgarh Sahib on 26 September, 2019
The members of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Scheme Prof Amanjot Kaur and Prof Atul Kumar along with NSS volunteer students visited the village Mirpur and apprised village folk about illeffects of Plastic on environment and human health. They also enlightened the gathering about the effective use of solar energy. Dr. Niraj Bala Coordinator of UBA elaborated that their college has adopted five villages under the UBA scheme and they are working for the welfare and improvement of these villages.
Dr. APS Sethi Coordinator NSS also deliberated on the issue of avoiding plastic. Dr Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa, HoD CSE, emphasised on the need of implementing solar energy system in households.
Sh. Visakhi Ram, Sarpanch of village Mirpur and S. Harbhajan Singh Waraich were present during the event along with other eminent people from village. Principal Major General (Dr.) GS Lamba, VSM, highlighted the importance of such awareness camps.
3-Day Java Script workshop at BBSBEC, Fatehgarh Sahib
A three-day JavaScript workshop held at Department of CSE under ACM student chapter in which about 80 students from various institutes participated. It was inaugurated on September 25, 2019 by Major General (Dr.) G. S. Lamba Principal, BBSBEC, and Dr. K. V. S. Dhindsa, Hod CSE. The objective of the workshop was to provide fundamental knowledge of Java Script to create rich web applications.
On the last day, the workshop started with a quiz competition followed by expert talk of Mr. Himanshu Gupta. He told about various web designing tools and highlighted various career options to students. Dr. Lamba, Principal BBSBEC highlighted the need of Java Script in the current era of internet, also congratulated endeavour of the department in his address. Dr. Dhindsa, Head of Department CSE, spoke about the importance of the programme and encouraged the students to participate in these types of programs. The program was organised by Prof.Perminder Kaur(Coordinator), Prof. Ravneet Kaur, Prof.Ishpreet Singh, Prof.Simrat Walia and ACM student chapter team.
2 days workshop on How to Earn Online
A two days workshop was organised on 18-19 Sept ,2019 in CSE department of BBSBEC by IE(I) Student Chapter and ACM Student Chapter. The instructor is CEO of SAMVESTOR and alumni of the college, Mr. Simarjot Singh. He is certified by Government of India, Google and Facebook. It was open for all branches. Students show great excitement towards the workshop. Total 163 students were registered. Workshop was started around 10:00 am in CSE Seminar Hall-2. It began with the introduction of the instructor after which Simarjot Singh started the workshop. He told about 20+ Strategies to start earning which includes Graphic Designing, Mobile Marketing, Display Marketing and Affiliate Marketing.
There were two core modules. One Core module was covered on first day of workshop and the other on covered on the next day. For the two days workshop refreshment was arranged for the students. At valedictory ceremony, Principal Sir, Major General Dr.G.S Lamba congratulated CSE department for organizing the workshop and shared his views of the workshop and asked the students about what they have learnt in the workshop. Then HOD,CSE Kanawlalvir Singh Dhindsa motivated students to participate in extracurricular events. Mr. Simarjot Singh was presented with the memento by Principal, HOD, Prof.Puneet Mittal, Prof.Perminder Kaur and Prof. Ravneet Kaur. Certificates were distributed to the organizers and participants in the end of event. The workshop was a huge success and students were satisfied.
Expert talk on “Thinking and Logic Building Skills”
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering under the aegis of BBSBEC IEEE student branch chapter organized an expert talk on “Thinking and Logic Building Skills” on 28th August 2019. The speaker Mr. Viney Khurana educated the importance of out of the box thinking or wild thinking for enhancing their creativity in logic building. Principal BBSBEC Major Gen. Dr.G.S.Lamba graced the event with his presence. Dr. Lamba encouraged the department for facilitating such platforms to students and congratulate all the participants and asked them to follow footsteps of fellow student and work with same spirit. Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa(HoD, Department of CSE)motivated the students so as to become members of professional bodies like IEEE for their overall technical development. Dr.Navneet Kaur (Branch Counselor) gave the information that more than 80 students have participated in the event.

International Conference on “Electronics and Communications, Renewable Energy and IOT’s Vision 2040” is going to held on 7-8 Sept,2019 at Engineers Bhawan, Sector 19A Chandigarh in association with Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College ,Fatehgarh Sahib. Principal BBSBEC, Major Gen. (Dr).G.S.Lamba informed that the aim of this international conference is to present current researches being carried out in the areas of Electronics & Communication Renewable energy and IoT by researchers, scientists and students from various universities around the World. Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa (Head, Department of CSE) further added that the researchers and engineers from academia and industries will interact with each other to discuss the advancements of the technical sector. One Day Workshop on Linux
One Day Workshop on Linux for Teachers and students was inaugurated on Friday, 23 August 2019 at IIT Bombay Remote Centre ,Department of Computer Science and Engineering.
This workshop is conducted through a blended mode, using both
live video conferencing facility (A-VIEW) and hands-on sessions using Spoken Tutorials. This workshop is being organised by the Teaching Learning Centre (ICT) at IIT Bombay, a scheme of ‘Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching’ (PMMMNMTT), an initiative of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
On this occasion, Major General (Dr.) G.S Lamba(Principal ,BBSBEC) asserted that workshop on linux is not subject-specific.He said that the teaching faculty from all colleges (engineering, sciences, arts, commerce, management, law, medicine, etc.), polytechnic colleges, ITIs, and schools, are participating in the workshop. Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa (Head, Department of CSE, BBSBEC) also acknowledged that it is a matter of great pride for whole BBSBEC community to conduct such type of programmes.

Student selected in TCS
Major General (Dr.) G S Lamba (Principal,BBSBEC) shared that we are extremely proud that an alumnus of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College Fatehgarh Sahib, Sahil Dhiman (Department of CSE) has cleared the selection Process of Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCSL). He has been Selected for the position of Assistant System Engineer in grade Y.He will be a part of the application development and maintenance projects across any of the business units of TCSL.
Sahil has completed his B.Tech CSE from Department of CSE,BBSBEC,Fatehgarh Sahib in the year 2019.

Workshop on Practical Approach towards Deep Learning
All India 2-days Workshop on Practical Approach towards Deep Learning was organized at Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh Sahib on July 11th-12th, 2019.
Er. Janak Raj Garg, Chairman & Committee Member of Punjab and Chandigarh State Centre, IE(I) gave the welcome speech during inaugural ceremony. He said that the event is planned on the theme “Deep Learning” which is the fastest growing field of Artificial Intelligence. He said that deep learning is concerned with the study and design of computer algorithms for learning good representations of data, at multiple levels of abstraction. Major General (Dr.) G.S Lamba, Principal welcomed the Chief Guest Prof. Sarabjit Singh, UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh . Dr. Gaurav Kumar, Director of Magma Research and Consultancy, Ambala was the Guest of Honour on this occasion. Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra, Head of Department, CSE addressed the audience about the features and applications of Deep Neural Networks (DNN). Er. Khyati Marwah, Convener of the Programme told about the theme of the workshop . Er. Sukhvir Singh Mundi, Honorary Secretary, Punjab and Chandigarh State Center, IE(I) gave the vote of thanks. Er. Shivinder Singh, Council Member, IE (I) was also present during the inaugural ceremony.
During the first technical session, Dr. Sarabjit Singh introduced Academicians and Research Scholars with a fundamental concept of Machine Learning and Deep Learning. He covered various issues and related topics such as Feed Forward Neural Networks, Back Propagation, Computing Gradients and Principal Component Analysis with respect to Deep Learning algorithms and their applications. In the session 2 of day 1, Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra explained the multi-layered algorithms based on Deep Neural Networks (DNN) to achieve critical breakthroughs in object recognition, facial recognition, and image/voice/speech recognition. Dr. Gaurav Kumar discussed about the concept of Convolution neural Networks and Recurrent Neural Networks along with Statistical Modeling.
On the second day of the programme, Dr. Balkrishan emphasized on Advanced framework of Deep Learning, Image Data Training and Predictions, Transfer Tuning, Real time applications and implementation of pre-trained models during technical session 1.Dr. Arjan Singh, a key speaker of the evening session, delivered a lecture on Cloud based Deep Learning, Activation functions and tuning along with the Hands on session using R, Python and other tools in second session. Mr. Balwinder Singh from GSSS, Patiala, threw light on the topics such as Linear Regression, Decision Trees, Bayesian Networks and Clustering: K Means in his evening session. 75 participants from various Institutes of Punjab attended this programme. The participants were awarded Certificate of Participation by Er. J.R. Garg and Er. S.S. Mundi during the valedictory ceremony. Er. Khyati Marwah congratulated the participants and delivered the vote of thanks and assured of such programmes in future as it is boon for researchers to update their skills.

The Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, Fatehgarh sahib adopted Ghumandgarh village, which is the part of Fatehgarh Sahib district to perform its social welfare activities. A tree plantation drive was organized on 18-08-2017 at the premises of senior secondary school of the village. The village Sarpanch and school Principal Shri Zora Singh welcomed the team of engineering college that includes Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra (Head, Department of computer science), Prof. Gurbahar Singh, Mr. Sushil Kumar, Mr. Ranjodh Singh, Mr. Gurjeet Singh and students from computer science department. College donated 350 trees of various varieties to the school. The computer/electronic/electrical related models were demonstrated to the students which plays a crucial role to enhance the knowledge of students. During interactive session, students asked many questions about their professional careers from the college teachers.
Visit to DMW Patiala
CSE department of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College organised an industrial visit to see the various functional units of Diesel Loco Modernization Works,Patiala for the students of 3rd semester on 23-08-2017.On reaching DMW, an overview of various sections was given to the students by officials of DMW. After that the students were divided in two groups and were made to visit the operational sites and workshops along with the faculty members Prof.Gurbahar Singh and Prof.Atul Kumar. Department Head Prof.Baljit Singh Khehra said that this kind of visit gives a better exposure to the students in understanding the theoretical concepts. Speaking on the event the principal of the college Dr.GS Lamba appreciated the students for their participation in the industrial visit.

Education Trip Organised by Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College
A group of CSE 3rd semester students of BBSB Engineering College, Fatehgarh sahib visited the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Mohali (NIPER) on 06-09-2017.National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) is the first national level institute in pharmaceutical sciences with a proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. The Government of India has declared NIPER as an ‘Institute of National Importance’. During the visit, students from BBSBEC,Fatehgarh sahib interacted with the faculty and students from NIPER to grab information about central instrumentation laboratory, SMPIC, Pharmaceutical heritage centre. Dr.Baljit Singh Khehra, Head of Department, CSE/IT department appreciated the efforts of Prof. Gurbahar Singh and Prof. Sandeep Kaur Dhanda to organise the trip.
Brainstorming Quiz &Techakshri (Fusion)
Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Department of Electrical Engineering Organized Brainstorming Quiz & Techakshri(Fusion) event under the aegis of Institution of Engineers(IEI) BBSBEC Student Chapter on 13.09.2017. A total of 30 teams participated in the event and four teams were selected winners and given cash prizes of uptoRs. 500 each. Dr. GS Lamba, Principal BBSBEC widely appreciated & congratulated the students for organinzing such events. At the end Dr GS Lamba, Principal, Dr. GS Brar, HOD, EE and Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra, HOD, CSE department distribute prizes among the winners teams. A group of CSE 3rd semester students of BBSB Engineering College ,Fatehgarh sahib visited the Kandhari beverages Private Limited Nabipur on 27-09-2017. Kandhari beverages private limited is a Manufacturer of soft drinks like coke, fanta, maaza etc.The objective of the visit was to familiarize the post first year students with the automation techniques via Programmable Logic Controller mechanisms used for bottling and visualize a practical look of the equipments and the mechanized heavy inventory of the firm. The complete visit was approved and facilitated by Mr Kulwant singh ,Administration Manager, KBPL throughout. Dr.Baljit singh Khehra (H.O.D CSE) stated that the department in coordination with all faculty members is strongly dedicated for the students in this day to day competitive world to well equip the students with theoretical and practical quotient as well. A total of 40 enthusiastic inspiring technocrats of CSE Branch subdivided into two batches of 20 and 20 students, coordinated and assisted by Prof.Gurbahar Singh (Visit In-Charge) and Mr.Ranjodh Singh.

An Expert Talk on the topic‘Role of modern technology in Industry‘ was organized for the Department of CSE students on October 9,2017.The program started with the address ofDr.BaljitSingh,Head of the Department. He made the students aware about the need of modern technology and security in computer science. He said that Security in all means has become the most essential form of technology to suffice the need of modern world.He welcomed the resource person Mr JeetpalSekhon,working as a First line manager, operations, IbmNoida,India. Mrjeetpalsekhon shared his experience in industry with the students and said that with the increase in competition in the industry, it is important for all the professionals to keep in touch with the modern technology in the market. Mrsekhon also shared about the creation and application of technology to monitor and control the production and delivery of products and services.
INTERACTIVE SESSION AT BABA BANDA SINGH BAHADUR ENGINEERING COLLEGE,FATEHGARH SAHIB
The CSI Student Chapter of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College,Fatehgarh sahib organized an interactive session with the Chairman of the CSI Chandigarh Chapter Mr. Subhash Chander Jain and Chief Scientist , CSIR-CSIO Dr. Sushil Kaura on 24th October, 2017. Mr. Subhash Chander Jain has been associated with CSI for quite a long time and has served as the Chairman in 2007-2008 as well. He is also associated with various other societies like IETE,OSA,IPA etc. For the development of the EFPI sensor for the first time at CSIR-CSIO, Mr. Jain received the year 2004 K Suryanarain Rau Memorial Award of ISAMPE, Bangalore for “ Smart Technology Development”. During the interaction, Mr. Jain highlighted the benefits of joining CSI and establishing a Student Chapter. He further encouraged the students to apply for research and project proposals for which the CSI provides funds upto Rs. 50,000/-. Dr. Sushil Kaura motivated the students to organize events under the aegis of CSI and avail various benefits as members. Dr. Baljit Singh delivered the vote of thanks and appreciated the efforts of Mr. Jain to promote the research activities under CSI chapter.

Department of Computer Science & Engineering organized a programming event “Code Phisher 2K17” under the aegis of BBSBEC IEEE Student Branch on 26.10.2017. More than 60 students participated in the event. The position holders were awarded cash prizes. Dr. GS Lamba, Principal BBSBEC widely appreciated the teamwork and enthusiasm exhibited by the students & congratulated the students for successful organization of the event. Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra, HOD CSE, addressed the students and motivated them to participate in such events. A Regional Centre for Entrepreneurship Development (RCED) and The Department of Science and Technology (DST) sponsored three-day National Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme being held at Deptt. Of CSE, BBSBEC Fatehgarh Sahib on 27-29, September 2017 in which about 100 students from various state institutes participated. The session started with the talk of Mr. Satvinder Singh, consultant RCED. He emphasizes the importance of entrepreneurship in today’s world. Major Genral G. S. Lamba, principal addressed the students and encourage them to participate in these kind of program. Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra, HOD CSE gave vote of thank. After that there was valediction of the program where certificated distributed to the students. The program was ended with an industrial visit to Sebiz Chandigarh. ICT Based Short Term Course on “PHP & MySQL”
The Computer Science & Engineering Department organized an ICT Based Course on “PHP& MySQL” from 23rd Jan, 2017 to 27th Jan, 2017 under Oplan No. ICT41. This course provided the knowledge necessary to design and develop dynamic, database-driven web pages using PHP that powers many websites.
ICT Based Short Term Course on “Cyber Crime and Forensic Tools”
Department of Computer Science and Engineering, BBSBEC, Fatehgarh Sahib organized an ICT Based Short Term Course on “Cyber Crime and Forensic Tools” in association with NITTTR, Chandigarh from Feb 6, 2017 to Feb 10, 2017. The STC covered many of the aspects of cybercrime including basic forensic analysis of computers involved in investigations, hacker behavior, basic evidence recovery, cybercrime response and e-commerce crimes. Around 30 faculty members from the department attended the course.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College, under the BBSBEC ACM student chapter organized 2-day workshop on “Cyber Intelligence and Forensics” on 23-24 February, 2017. Er. Perminder Kaur, Coordinator of the workshop welcomed the participants and the distingushed guests and experts. The workshop was inaugurated on 23-Feb,2017 by Major Gen.(Dr.) G.S. Lamba, Principal, BBSBEC. He highlighted various kinds of threats, hazards in virtual world and emphasized on the need of cyber security and gave an insight about the working of Indian Cyber Army.
ANDROID WORKSHOP
A “3-day Android Workshop” was organized by the Institute of Engineers (India) ,Student Chapter under the aegis of CSE/IT Department of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College from 27th March,2017 to 29th March,2017. The workshop provided the participants with technical training on the concepts and programming methodologies needed to develop applications on mobile devices.
BIGDATA AND HADOOP WORKSHOP( 27th -29th March, 2017 )
The Institute of Engineers (India) ,Student Chapter of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Engineering College successfully organized a “3-day Workshop on Bigdata and Hadoop” from 27th March,2017 to 29th March,2017. The Workshop aimed to provide a forum for exchanging ideas and information on emerging field of Big data analysis. Mr. Anand Kumar Pandey, Big Data & Hadoop trainer cum Consultant in Morling Global Pvt. LTD, Noida was the resource person. The workshop was divided into 6 sessions, in which the first session covered the Introduction to Big Data . The framework and architecture of Hadoop, Data loading techniques, Hive and HiveQL, NoSQL, Hbase and OOZIE were covered during the rest of the sessions. A total of 30 participants attended the workshop.
2-Day Startup in Hackathon Talent Hunt
Hanumayamma Innovations And Technologies, in collaboration with BBSBEC successfully organized a 2-Day Startup in Hackathon Talent Hunt on 30th-31st March, 2017. The 2-Day Entrepreneurial Hackathon aimed at building a platform to create startups through learning-by-doing pedagogy. Er.Manav Pavitra Singh, Entrepreneur and Software Engineering in Hanumayamma Innovations and Technologies Inc., USA was the resource person.
Orientation Program
The Department of Computer Science& Engineering conducted 1-day orientation program on “Recent Trends in Free Lancing on Internet & Cyber Securities” under ACM student chapter on March 3, 2017. This program focused on the various issues like security from online bank frauds, credit card frauds, social networking sites and freelancing. Dr. G. S. Lamba, Principal, Dr. Baljit Singh Khehra HoD (CSE) , Dr. Kanwalvir Singh Dhindsa and Er. Harpreet Khattar, Harksh Technology inagurated the program. Dr.G.S Lamba highlighted the need of cyber security and freelancing. Dr Baljit Singh Khehra encourage students to make the best use of these kind of programs.The program got a huge response from students. More than 150 students from BBSBEC, Fatehgarh Sahib and Sri Guru Granth Sahib University, Fatehgarh Sahib participated in this event.
Technical Antakshri (Techakshri)
The Student chapter IE(I) of Department of CSE/IT, BBSBEC, Fatehgarh sahib organized a Technical Antakshri (Techakshri) on 9th Feb, 2017.This event was organized to increase the technical vocabulary of students. Er.P.S.Bhogal, Chairman, IE(I), Punjab and Haryana center and Dr. T.S.Kamal, FIE, IE(I) graced the occasion.
Events of CSE Department (May 2015 to April 2016)
Department successfully conducted MOCK AMCAT test on 20th-21th May, 2015. The test assessed the aptitude of students and made the students aware of their weaknesses and prepared them for the placement drives.
Dr Baljit Singh Khera (HOD,CSE) presented a paper entitled “Image Segmentation using Teaching-Learning-based Optimization Algorithm and Fuzzy Entropy” in The 15th International Conference on Computational Science and its applications (ICCSA 2015)held at Banff, Calgary, Canada on 22-25th June, 2015.
Department has initiated the process of incorporating ERP system at college level. For the smooth running of the ERP, a workshop was conducted on 4th July, 2015 to handle queries of ERP teams from different departments of the college.
Department organized a two day workshop (10-11th Sept, 2015) on Ethical Hacking . 432 students from various departments registered for the workshop. Two students of first year CSE were selected for two months free training at IIT Bombay worth Rs 75000/-.
MATLAB workshop was held on 18-19th Sept 2015. Nearly 25 students from different colleges had a brain storming session with Er. Deepak kumar form EESPL, Mohali. Er. Deepak discussed basics of MATLAB, Case Studies on Signal Processing , DIP, ASN, MANETs etc
A workshop on Cloud Computing was held on 18-19th Sept ,2015. Er Mandeep Singh form Technospecs, Mohali familiarized students about its basics and related case studies. Nearly 20 students of different colleges gained know how about Cloud Computing in the workshop
Department of CSE organised a Workshop cum National level championship on Big Data with Hadoop on 18-19th September 2015. The workshop brought together industry experts and the academic community towards the research and development of big data applications. A total of 23 students from various colleges and universities across the India participated in the workshop. Students were also given free toolkit and participation certificates for the workshop. Four student’s from the workshop were selected for the participation in annual IIT Rorkee techfest.
Gurnishan Singh of 7th CSE stood third in Inter College Chess Tournament (MRSSTU) on 5-7th Oct 2015. Five teams of girls and nine teams of boys from different colleges participated in the event.
Dr Rajesh Kumar, Professor in CSE Department ,Thapar University delivered an Expert Talk on “Flying Adhoc Networks” on 17th Oct 2015. Staff and students of the department gained valuable knowlede from the talk.
Er Gurmeet Sharma from EESPL, Mohali engaged a hands on workshop on MATLAB for graduates and post graduates of the Department on 17th Oct 2015.
The Department Computer Science and Engineering of BBSBEC, Fatehgarh Sahib organized an Expert Talk on” Cyber Security “in loving memory of Late Dr. Gurpal Singh on 29th October 2015. Prof (Dr.) Maitryee Dutta from NITTTR Chandigarh updated staff and students of department with latest developments in the research area of cyber security and tools used for it.
